Free to Breathe 5K Pictures!

So I totally have NOT forgotten about my blog...it's just been a crazy weekend! I've been painting our house all weekend and building a new flower bed. Who said that Easter weekend is relaxing? It totally was not for me but I got a lot done and that's a great feeling!!!

Anyway, here's some pictures from the Free to Breathe 5K I ran last weekend! The Free to Breathe race was to benefit Lung Cancer. Being an Oncology Nurse, I love running races that have a good cause behind them! (sorry the pictures are so big! Just click on the image and you'll be able to see the whole thing!)

This is a HUGE event for our area and there were a ton of people there! Our Senator even opened up the event!

I ran in memory of my grandfather who passed away in 2000 with Lung cancer!

My sister in law (Kayla) and I walking to meet up with my running group!

Lined up, ready to race!

There I come! I was kinda disappointed but that's ok! 28:09 is still a personal best for me! Yay!

Kayla and I after the race!

My brother, Kayla, my dad, me, and my mom! All that is missing is my husband! (he had to work!)

Our hospital team!

  1. Congrats on the PR! So what color skirt is that? I don't think I have ever seen it!

  2. That's awesome! My grandpa currently has lung cancer so I think it's great that there are people out there supporting causes like this!

I have a question-I'm actually contemplating a career change into nursing. I have a bachelor's in business management so I know I have to take about 4 more classes before I could apply to nursing school. Do you think it's possible to work and attend nursing school at night or is it too demanding?

  5. TMB, I'm not sure what color it is! I won it in a lot of four on ebay a while back! That is neat your MIL is an oncology nurse! :0)

Cassie, I remember nursing school being one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life. It's very demanding of your time. I'm not sure how working and going to school like that would be. I only had a job during the summers cause that's all I could handle. Good luck!

    Thanks Heather! It's coming along!!

    Thank you Running Diva Mom!

Haha Kayla! You could have kept up this past Saturday! We weren't running very fast! :0)
