Teamwork

Today at work, I had a lunchtime meeting. I'm on a service team for our Hospital and our motto is "Helping make our facility the best place for the best people to work!" I love being on this service team! We plan fun things around the hopsital and help improve things, we also give ideas to help make our employees feel appreciated. Well today was my day to bring lunch and that also means it was my day to come up with a "Reflection". I work for a Christian organization which I love so there's freedom to express beliefs there.

This is only a part of the devotional I found:

'Everything Happens Through Teamwork'
By Robert Tamasay

"Whether formally or informally, it's important to recognize that practically everything we accomplish happens through teamwork. We are not on our own. Everyone works within a loop of social accountability - a family, a congregation, a business.

The power of a team. Being part of a team can provide encouragement, strength and support. And the reality is that members of a team working together can accomplish much more than they could independently. "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work. If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!... Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken" (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12)

The productivity of a team. Whether it is competing in a game of tennis or working together on a major project under deadline pressure, our interactions with one another - creative friction - can enable each of us to function more effectively, improve our work habits, and become more productive. "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another" (Proverbs 27:17)"

I think all of this rings true, not only in the professional world but also in the sport of running. Running isn't always a "team sport" so a lot of it is done on our own. I think having a person that you can be accountable to or a running group is so very important! It's nice to have an extra "pick me up" when you need it, or someone to run a Marathon with. I haven't run a Half Marathon by myself yet! Both times I know it's only because of my friends that I was able to finish strong!

Hopefully the Disney Full will be a success as well!

  1. lol! I know I wouldn't have pushed as hard if we had not run together! I just want to survive the full, forget about timing, just finish is what I am going for!

  2. I think it's great that your work has teams like this! My work could definitely benefit from something similar.
