This past weekend, I ran the Rock n Roll New Orleans Marathon! I DID IT!! I’ll have a full weekend recap soon, but until then, here’s my Disney Princess Royal Family 5K report!
If you missed it, please see the last two recaps of my Disney Princess Weekend:
Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend Recap – The Expo
Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend Recap – Pasta in the Park Party
If there’s one thing I forgot about Disney races, it’s how early in the morning our alarms ring!
You can tell how tired I am! Here’s Heather and I in our rooms before leaving for the bus!
I made my mom wear a tutu! :0)
This was my first ever Disney 5K! This was also my mom’s very first 5K, so I was excited to be there with her!
We arrived at the Epcot parking lot long before the sun rose! We walked around for a while and people-watched.
This costume was awesome! I loved it!!!
Before long, the all clear was given for runners to line up in their corrals!
What you lookin at?? :0)
I tried to get as far back as possible – we were in the area that said 11-13 minute miles. My mom and I were going to walk this race because I didn’t want to make my knee mad a day before a half. Also, my mom didn’t train for a 5K like I instructed her to, so we decided walking was our best option.
GO!
Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder saw us off!
I think it’s funny that this was the same Rapunzel from the Pasta Party the night before!
These people had a great view spot for cheering on the 5K runners!!
The first part of the 5K looped through the Epcot parking lot.
Mile 1 hit while we were still outside of the park!
The course took us through the back entrance of Epcot and underneath Test Track!
We then made our way to World Showcase!
Our first character stop was in China with Mulan and her friends!
We saw Snow White and Dopey in Germany! There’s a funny story behind it but in short, we call my mom Dopey and my dad Grumpy – it’s a joke and it’s all in fun. Well, when we saw who was with Snow White, we were excited and got in line!
I’m not kidding you - we were next in line, and Dopey walked away!
We were SO SAD and disappointed! We stood in that line for a good 10 minutes, I know! Sad times.
I just had to take my traditional Germany picture! :0)
We found these guys in America.
Don’t be fooled! I made my mom run a portion of this race!! She probably ran a mile in total – which is more than she’s used to so I was proud of her!
After leaving World Showcase, we ran beside the Epcot ball, then back out into the parking lot!
Yay! We made it to Mile 3!!
I laughed because this was my mom’s first 5K so technically, she has an official “PR”….one hour! Hehe!
Runners with our medals…I mean….plastic??
Fun times!
I love how Disney gave out boxes of goodies after the race! So much easier to grab and go!!
After the race, we returned to our hotel and ate breakfast in the lounge. We also had a combination of a hot breakfast from Gasparilla’s which we all shared thanks to Heather! Yummy! :0)
I love Disney races and this 5K was a lot of fun, but I don’t think wouldn’t run a Disney 5K by myself. I would consider another 5K if I had a friend that really wanted to run one with me, but I think I’m going to stick with the Disney Half/Full Marathons from now on! :0)
Up next: More Princess Weekend! :0)
Love the tutus...and your mom is adorable!!!
ReplyDeleteI just came across your blog from my good friend Annette at running in the right direction!! I'm a new follower and I hope to read more about you soon!!
Love these pics!!!
Thanks for following!! :0)
DeleteThe tutus were super fun!
Looks like you had an awesome time! I'd love to do this one, I did the Disney World Half in January and it was the best race ever!
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree! I think I liked Princess better than the Marathon weekend Half. Princess is all about the girl power!
DeleteCongrats to your mom!!! I love getting family involved with racing. Your Tutus are awesome!! Did you make them?
ReplyDeleteThanks!! Yes, I made them! They weren't too hard to make and they were fun to run in!
