Exciting News!

Today I have some very exciting news to share!!

If you read my blog, then you know that I’m very involved with our local  American Cancer Society in many different aspects. I love ACS and I love what they stand for; I love knowing that somehow (even if it’s in a small way), I’m helping make a difference in a cancer patient’s life.

Yesterday, we held a meeting to plan out our course of action for the 2013 Leadership Council.

Guess who was appointed as the 2013 SWLA American Cancer Society Leadership Council PRESIDENT!?

Eeeeek!!

Yours truly!

When the original idea was brought to my attention on Tuesday, I didn’t know what to think! I was FLOORED (like mouth hanging open jaw dropping floored). You see, last year was the first year for our area to have a council. Being a part of that very first council as a team member was a ton of fun and I really enjoyed all of the things we accomplished. Our 1st Council President was a former Mayor in our area….so imagine my surprise when I was approached to step into his role for year two!

I didn’t know what to think….or do…many thoughts ran through my mind – am I even capable of holding such a role? What if I fail? I put away thoughts of doubt and I changed my mindset. If others have faith in me, then I should have faith in myself as well! If they weren’t sure I could uphold this role, they wouldn’t have asked me. I’m feeling more confident in myself now and I know we are going to have a great year ahead!

Next weekend, I will be travelling to Nashville, TN (on a whirlwind trip, I might add) for an ACS Relay for Life Summit (training). I’m REALLY excited and can’t wait to see everything the weekend has in store!

Whew….what a crazy, nerve-racking, exciting day!! Here’s to a world with LESS cancer and MORE birthdays! :0)

Have you ever been asked to step into a role where you doubted yourself in the beginning?
