This past Saturday, my husband and I took a day trip to Houston, TX to see one of our favorite productions, Les Miserables.
Before leaving for Houston, I ran 8 miles (very early in the morning) AND I went to work for an hour! What a crazy day!!
It seemed so strange driving to Houston without also going to an Astros game! Even so, I still spotted my favorite ballpark! :0)
We ate lunch at P.F. Chang’s….I’ve always wanted to try it and never had the chance. Lucky for us, I also remembered that I received a $10 P.F. Chang’s gift card from a Rock n Roll race I ran a while back…at least a year and a half ago! Guess what? It still worked! I’m SO glad I finally had the opportunity to use it!
Chopsticks!
After lunch, we drove downtown to the Hobby Center for Les Miserables!
Our seats?
The last row on the VERY TOP of the theater! Why those seats? For one, we didn’t purchase tickets until two weeks before the performance. My husband has a crazy work schedule and doesn’t always know which weekend he will have off work. Just so happened, he was off work and Les Miserables was in Houston…perfect combo! The production was only in Houston for one week, so every performance was mostly sold out. We were lucky to snag two seats, period. I didn’t care that they were at the very top – it was a neat perspective!
This is what the stage looks like from the very top of the Hobby Center! Haha!
I (of course) cried like a baby through most of the finale of this production. I feel as if I understand the entire story much better having seen it twice. We saw Les Miserables in Seattle last Fall (same touring company) and it was just as incredible this time around as it was the last!
If you aren’t familiar with Les Miserables, check out the trailer on You Tube! The movie is set to debut on Christmas Day in theaters and stars Anne Hathaway, Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, and Amanda Seyfried! I am SO incredibly excited!! It’s one of the longest running Broadway productions of all time second to Phantom (of course) and Cats.
After the show, we drove over to the Galleria for their Tree-Lighting! Unfortunately, we stood on the wrong side of the mall (we couldn't see any of the ice skaters). If you notice on the left of the picture, the mall was PACKED on all three levels with people, so we had no where to move to!
The lighting show included fireworks which was pretty cool!
There’s a skinny Santa on skates!
We also visited the Disney Store (of course) and Banana Republic!
We attempted to eat dinner at the Cheesecake Factory at the mall, but the line was crazy LONG so we changed our minds. Instead, we stopped at Cheddars on our way home. :0)
Overall, I had an AMAZING day and I enjoyed spending it with my love! :0)
CHRISTMAS DAY! Can’t wait!
