I hope everyone had a lovely weekend! I had a nice relaxing weekend which I spent out of town and I definitely enjoyed myself!
We began our weekend on Saturday morning by meeting up with my brother/sister in law for lunch and a movie. It was our first time at a Movie Tavern and I thought the concept was really cool!
Once seated, we were presented a menu and given a call light. If we needed anything during the movie, we could hit the red call light and a waitress would come over to assist us.
Our food did not arrive until after the movie started so unfortunately, I have no photos of my food, but I ordered a chicken pita wrap and it was delicious! We also all ordered dessert…cause we had to, clearly.
I highly recommend a Movie Tavern/Dine in Movie Theater – it was a lot of fun to watch a movie and have lunch served at the same time!
Oh yea, the movie? We saw 42, cause it was an all baseball weekend….which I LOVED. The movie is awesome – I laughed, I cried…if you are a baseball fan, go see it!!
After checking into our hotel, we walked a short distance to the ballpark and were greeted with this – an open roof and a beautifully sunny day! Perfect baseball weather!
Unfortunately, the Astros were not in top form on Saturday night and pretty much blew the game. The final score was 19-6 which is tied for the most points scored in a game at Minute Maid Park. I’ve never seen such a crazy game. We left at the end of the 7th inning because we were tired of watching the “circus on dirt” as my brother called it.
A few good things DID happen during the game, though…
I got to spend time with my family!
Kayla got a foul ball! She was so excited!
Sunday morning, we took our time waking up, took our time getting ready, took our time eating breakfast…you get the picture, it was a laid back, relaxing Sunday!
Before the game, we walked over to the Hard Rock Café for lunch and we all really enjoyed it!
After Hard Rock, we walked over to Minute Maid Park for the Sunday afternoon game (we did a LOT of walking this weekend!). Once we arrived, we stood in the outfield to watch the players on the field.
As we were standing there, the Coca Cola Patrol Cheer girls ran over and threw a ball to Jason!
I also saw my old pal, Mickey in the corridor of Minute Maid Park!
We were excited to see each other! :0)
This game was far more entertaining than the day before. The Astros actually competed with the opposing team and came very close to tying the game up in the last inning. Our seats were in the very same location as the day before, too!
Unfortunately, the Astros lost Sunday’s game as well, but only by one point and not 12.
I might have enjoyed a sweet treat during the game, too… :0)
We had a fantastic weekend and enjoyed spending time with my brother/sister in law. Looking forward to next time!
How was your weekend? What did you do for fun/relaxation?
Sounds like an amazing weekend! My hubby and I have family in Houston so we visit frequently. Sometimes I think we go just for the restaurants though....If you've never eaten at a Lupe Tortillas, put it on your list of places to stop at next time. Divine, I tell ya!
ReplyDeleteGood to know, thanks!! We all love Mexican so we'll definitely keep an eye out for this one next time! :0)
DeleteI'm itching to get to a Braves game soon! They stunk up in Pittsburgh this weekend though...oh well. I got a massage, cupcakes, and my hubby came home from a weekend of work in NOLA :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a great weekend! A massage...aaah...sounds amazing! Glad you got to see your hubby, too! Hope you get to see the Braves soon! :0)
DeleteI'm a baseball fan! We have a minor league team in town. We went to the game yesterday, but they also weren't in top form and ended up losing. It was still fun though.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Wish we had a minor league team closer...I'd go to more games each year for sure! Sorry they lost...I know the feeling all too well! :0)
DeleteWhat a great weekend! A sporty weekend is always good fun! We had a really fun dinner out Saturday night to celebrate hubby's birthday with 3 other couples! We came back to our house to enjoy 3 layer homemade carrot cake for dessert! YUM!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a great weekend, too! Happy birthday to your husband! Carrot Cake...yum!! :0)
DeleteWhat a fun weekend!!! I would love to eat at a dine in movie theater!!! And of course I LOVE the pics with Mickey!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI was told there's a dine in movie theater in Downtown Disney...never knew! Something to look for next time!
DeleteLooks like a wonderful weekend! I am jazzed to go see 42 - I had a lock in this weekend for work - so that pretty much wiped my weekend. I was exhausted to say the least.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine you were exhausted! Hope you catch up on your rest! Enjoy 42! :0)
DeleteSounds like an awesome weekend!! My hubby and I were just talking yesterday that I would love to take a mini-vaca and go see a ball game. Loved the idea of a Dine-In Theatre. I've never heard of them before, but sounds right up my alley!!
ReplyDeleteThat would be so much fun! My brother researched and found this one...he said they are all over the country! Best of luck! :0)
DeleteLooks like a fun weekend! The weather was so gorgeous I spent most of my time outside!
ReplyDeleteThanks friend! Yes, it was definitely a beautiful weekend!! :0)
DeleteLove the idea of a theater/pub, but we don't have one near us. Sounds like a perfect date night!
ReplyDeleteThe weather sucked this weekend, so we did basic kid stuff - taking people back & forth to activities & birthday parties & sleep overs. I did enjoy a glass of wine with the husband last night, as we talked about everything we got done. We're planning our next vacation, & talking about that blissful time alone is relaxing! ;-)
Sorry you didn't have good weather this weekend...but vacation planning!! Fun times!! :0)
DeleteYou always have such fun-filled weekends! :)
ReplyDeleteHah Thanks, Paige! Looking forward to nothing next weekend! :0) A nice somewhat relaxing change!
DeleteI was in Houston this weekend as well (visiting friends). The weather was absolutely gorgeous!! I used to love getting the ice cream sundaes in the baseball hat (although that was waaaaay back when it was still Enron Field! :) ).
ReplyDeleteToo funny! Yes the "Good old days" of Bagwell and Biggio...we talked a lot about them this past weekend. Miss those fun times. Now I hardly know anyone on the team anymore.
DeleteThat's so cool that she caught the ball!! And I remember the good old days of Bagwell and Biggio too. My dad used to start a chant each time we were at a game "Biggio! Biggio! (Sounding out each syllable really loudly!)
ReplyDeleteOh yes...I definitely chanted that as well! :0) Good times!
DeleteMovie Tavern? Sounds amazing!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a really fun weekend. Love the pictures.
Thanks! We had a great time! :0)
DeleteThat ice cream looked really good!
