I knew only two people on the team but received a free entry to the race, so why not? :0) After my last mud run, I said I would never run another. Guess I should have learned my lesson a long time ago about never saying never. (Hint: Goofy’s Challenge)
My friend Kelli even came out to cheer a few of us on!! :0)
I was muddy before the race even began thanks to the field of mud I had to trudge through to get to the registration table. I knew from that moment it was going to be a muddy one for sure!
Our team’s wave time was set for noon (which I was thankful for because it was a cool morning and had a chance to warm up by noon). I was also grateful that our wave wasn’t very full!
I took along my Olympus TG-1 iHS point and shoot camera for this race and I received several strange looks because I was running with a camera. No worries! It was a waterproof/shockproof camera and I was ready to put it to the test. I will admit, I was a little scared to run this race with it and almost handed it to my husband at the last second….but I’m SO glad I didn’t!
Check out this video of pictures/footage I took along the course!
I finished this race, covered in mud from head to toe. I even had a lovely mud beard to show for it!
Attractive, isn’t it? And to think…my husband didn’t want a kiss….. He’s no fun!
This race was a very tough one for me. As you can see from the video/pictures, there was mud EVERYWHERE. I kept thinking, “This is the longest 3.5 miles, EVER!” After tackling so many obstacles, it was hard to run and I kept reminding myself to keep moving forward. This race was definitely a mind battle for me because the last mud run I ran was not near as muddy/wet as this one. I guess the ginormous rain storm that came through just a few days before this race didn’t help much, either.
With all of the mud/water, how did my camera turn out, you ask?
Completely caked in mud both front and back……..and still works like a charm!!
This camera is officially color run and mud run proof! Yay Olympus!
After being hosed down by local firemen, my husband and I returned to the truck to head home. I was in desperate need of a real shower and I’m sure I smelled lovely as well.
Thankfully, I remembered to bring along a few essentials to help along the clean-up process!
These Cottonelle wipes were the bomb.com! Seriously!
There you have it…my mud run that almost wasn’t, because I said I would never run a mud run again. Guess a free race entry can talk me into anything…well, almost anything. Another one for the books!
Have you ever run a mud run? If so, which one?
Please note: I purchased my Olympus TG-1 iHS camera from Best Buy with my own funds and was not compensated in any way by Olympus for this review. I think it's a fabulous camera and just wanted to share the blogger camera love! :0)
I was just asked to do a mud run this summer, so this is perfect timing! I love the video - so fun! :)
ReplyDeleteYay! You're going to have so much fun!! Thank you! :0)
DeleteWoohoo! Looks like fun, for you. I don't usually say never... but I don't think a mud run is in my future. It would probably be REALLY fun hanging out on the sideline with Kelli making fun of.. I mean cheering you crazy people on though!! And your camera ROCKS!! Glad you had fun!
ReplyDeleteHah! Kelli ran it last year don't let her cleanliness fool you! :0) Yes, I love the camera!!! It's so great!
DeleteLooks like so much fun! I've never done a mud run...I'm so girly I'm not sure I will like it lol! Yay for that camera!!! I need one of those!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a huge fan of the either...although a free race entry can talk me into almost anything! :0)
DeleteI'm doing my first mud run this summer. This one looks like it was a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteExciting!!! I can't wait to hear your thoughts!!
DeleteI did the Gladiator Run last year with a bunch of girls from my gym. It was a blast. I'd do one again if I was going with a group. I'm not sure how much fun it would be to do solo.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like fun, too!! I did my last mud run with friends and I definitely agree, it's more fun when others are with you! :0)
DeleteLove it!!! I have a Nikon that is essentially the same thing as your Olympus and I love it for many of the same reasons.
ReplyDeleteI am totally with you that a free race entry can get me to do just about anything.
Mud races aren't my most favorite but from time to time I can be talked into them with a group of friends.
Yay! I love Nikon too!! Glad you have a good waterproof camera too!
DeleteVery, very attractive! I have yet to do a mud run or color run or any of that but it would be nice one day!
ReplyDeleteHaha!! ;)
DeleteYour video is fabulous.....but all that mud! I think I am too old to enjoy one of those runs. I will leave it to all the younger runners!
ReplyDeleteThanks Pam! It was definitely a muddy one!
DeleteWow! That looks so fun! But it does sound hard... 3 and a half miles with mud and obstacles is a long way to go. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteYes it sure was a long way! I definitely had a ton of fun! :0)
DeleteAwesome video, I did the dirty girl mud run last year and loved it, but this one looks a lot more hard core!!!
ReplyDeleteWell done and thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!! Dirty Girl sounds like a lot of fun, too!
DeleteHow fun! I'm doing my 3rd mud run this weekend...I hope my shoes are dry from last weekend! Thanks for the recommendation on the camera...our waterproof one died and I want to get another one!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Hope you have a great time!! :0) You are very welcome!!
Deletemud beard. LOL!
ReplyDeleteAttractive, yes? Hahah! :0)
DeleteI love my Olympus - I use it as my underwater camera but that's a good idea to use it on the color run!! I have never done a mud run - I'm sure one of these days I'll cave. Ha!
ReplyDeleteYes! It's such a great camera!!
