Fitness Friday–June 14

Fitness Friday

I began (and ended) this week on a good note! YAY!

Saturday – 4 mile RUN (yes, RUN) and 6 mile bike ride with a friend
Sunday
– Rest Day
Monday – PT lunges routine
Tuesday – PT lunges routine and 2 mile walk
Wednesday – 3 mile RUN (yes, another one) before work and PT lunges routine after work
Thursday
– Ran out of time to workout so unscheduled rest day
Friday – Planning on an afternoon run after work

I’ve decided it’s time for my ITBand to stop acting crazy. Last week, I had a massage, I began my lunges routine again, I iced a lot, and I foam rolled. The combination of all helped me get through not one but TWO runs without any pain! I was ecstatic! Now the fun begins…picking it back up…slowly. I’m not a patient person so this will be tough, but I know I can do it!

Here’s a few pictures from my week:

Not only did I enjoy a gorgeous sunrise during Saturday morning’s run, I also enjoyed a donut after the run! I completely missed out on Friday’s “National Donut Day” because I had willpower, right? Well, all of my willpower flew out of the window on Saturday morning when I heard other runners discussing the donuts they had the day before. That was all it took, but it was delicious and worth every bite!

I knew I just HAD to register for runDisney’s Glass Slipper Challenge when I purchased this nail polish simply for the name (Glass Slipper). Yep. I did.

I spy a Kitty! I enjoyed the start of a very “Monstrous Summer” on Sunday with ABC Family’s showing of Monsters Inc…I cannot wait for June 21!

I saved this slug’s life during my run on Wednesday morning. He was crossing the street rather slowly and I felt sorry for him. Yes, this slug was worth stopping my Garmin to snap a picture!

Grandfather update: He asked for a hamburger this week, so that’s what he got! :0) He’s doing ok…and he’s determined. We had a long talk yesterday about him getting up, moving around, sitting in the chair more, not lying in the bed so much, etc. He is regaining strength but it’s realllly slow and it’s frustrating to him. We were all hoping for a faster recovery, but it is what it is and we are taking one day at a time. We also talked today about focusing on the positive things that happen, not the negative. We shall see what happens, I suppose!

Any weekend plans to share? Super Man is coming out this weekend – would love to see it!

  1. Running and donuts and slugs...oh my! LOL. I'm so glad your IT band is cooperating! I managed to avoid the donuts on national donut day but then had ice cream. :p I didn't really think there were any other bleeding hearts as bad as me, but saving a slug gets you the bleeding heart award today! ;)

  3. What is your lunges routine? I've been resting my IT band for about 1.5 months and it's frustrating. I'm looking for any advice I can get.

I also watched Monster's Inc on ABCFamily and I can't wit till the 21st.

  7. Yay for running. And donuts. I'm so glad the IT band is starting to listen.

We have a cookout + Father's Day stuff but nothing too crazy. I really want to see "This is the End" but alas, our baby sitter is out of town. Womp. Womp.

  10. Love that you bought Glass Slipper polish. :) My cousin is marrying one of our family's close friends daughters so it's almost like a double-family wedding. I'm really looking forward to it! (Wow, I just realized that was confusing) :) Have a great weekend!!

  11. I saw Super Man last night, it was good! A bridal shower today for my friend, and I am a bridesmaid :)

How did the massage help your IT band? I've been having the same issue and have been thinking about splurging on a massage...

    Have a great weekend!
