Did you see Spirit of the Marathon II last night in theaters?
I did, and I couldn’t have been more excited! One of my BRF’s (Kelli) agreed to accompany me for dinner and a movie and we had a great time!
Our original plan was to eat at McAlister's for dinner – you know I never pass up the opportunity for McAlisters sweet tea! After discovering that O’Charleys was running a special for FREE PIE Wednesdays, we quickly changed our minds. Free Pie, I’m so there! (It was delicious and worth every bite, too.)
I had a laugh when we parked at the movie theater, there were several cars around with 13.1 or 26.2 stickers on their windows…we knew we were in great company!
We were able to sit with several running group friends in the theater – it did feel kind of odd to see them in “normal” clothing! :0) My local theater was rather empty, I was sad to see just a handful of people sitting down when we walked in.
What were my thoughts of the movie? I loved it! I got chills when the Rome Marathon began, I cried when Julie discussed her father and qualifying for Boston, my heart broke for some as their ultimate goals were not met, and I cheered with the first timers (and everyone) who crossed the finish line.
Spirit of the Marathon II showcased running at its finest. This movie inspired me, lifted me up, and I became even more excited about my next running journey.
(Perhaps one of my favorite parts of the movie was Jeff Galloway in his runDisney hat! LOVED it!) :0)
Did you see Spirit of the Marathon II? What were your thoughts?
Disclaimer: I was provided two free passes for Spirit of the Marathon II for this review. All opinions expressed are my own. Despite receiving the passes, I would have gone to see this movie on my own.
I didn't go :( I was supposed to go with the free passes, but the only theater here that was showing i was the scary crappy one a couple towns over so I decided to pass! Glad Jeff was in it yay!
ReplyDeleteOh bummer! I wouldn't have gone either in that case! I was SO excited to see Jeff!!
DeleteI loved the movie!! I took a friend who has decided to start training for her first half marathon...she enjoyed it and is excited for her journey! AND...Jeff Galloway was at my movie theater..of course I had to get a picture :) glad you enjoyed it too!
ReplyDeleteSo glad y'all enjoyed the movie!! Yay for inspiration! Now y'all have shoe shopping to look forward to! lol
DeleteI saw it with several members of my running group (Black Girls RUN!) here in NYC and our theater was packed! I enjoyed this movie, but not as much as the first Spirit of the Marathon. I don't know why, but I found that I related more to the runners featured in the first one. I welled up at the stories in II, but I actually shed tears at the stories in the first.
ReplyDeleteSO glad to hear that y'all's theater was packed!! I was sad ours wasn't... :0/ I agree with you about Part 1, also. I felt the same way.
DeleteDid not see it but want too.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it will be on Netflix or Hulu soon! :0)
DeleteI absolutely LOVED it! And I was super excited when I saw Jeff too! I had to lean over and tell my friend that I met him, had my picture taken with him, and that he signed my marathon bib in Disney lol!
ReplyDeleteHaha! I told my friend the same thing! (Minus the bib signing part!)
DeleteMy theater had some people, maybe around 20? I enjoyed it but I also think the first one is better.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great night. I can't wait to catch up on these movies.
ReplyDeleteOh, and free pie? Amazing! Who could resist!? ;)
I didn't get to see it, but am hoping too when it comes out on DVD. Glad you enjoyed yourself!! :)
ReplyDeleteI never went to see it but hope to be able to get it on DVD or netflix in the future
