July Kona Kase Review

Disclaimer: I received this product as a Sweat Pink Ambassador for the purposes of a review. I was not compensated for this review. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

A few months ago, I had the opportunity to review several different brands of Athletic Subscription Boxes and Kona Kase was one of them! Kona Kase was a favorite of mine, so imagine my excitement when I was given the opportunity to review yet another box for them! Thanks, Kona Kase!

Included in July’s box was a wide array of items, all new to me. I love trying new things so I was very excited to dig into this box! :0)

First up, I ate the Garuka Bar prior to my long run on Saturday morning.

Garuka Bars is named after one of the few remaining mountain gorillas ranging in the volcanic forests of the Virunga Massif in Rwanda. Garuka needs projection and you need all-natural energy. We’re working on both. Our bars are packed full of simple, wholesome ingredients, and a percentage of each sale goes towards gorilla conservation.

The taste of this bar reminded me of the peanut butter no-bake cookies my Aunt used to make for me. Yes, this bar was THAT good! I will definitely keep my eyes open for this one in stores. I accidentally forgot my bottle of water at home on Saturday morning and without water, this bar was a little rich…still yummy, but rich. Note to self: always remember water!

I also used the Pro Bar Bolt Organic Chews with my long run on Saturday. These chews took the place of my usual long run 5 mile gel.

Pro Bar Bolt Organic Chews step up up your game right when you need it. They’re loaded with electrolytes, B vitamins, antioxidants, and complex carbs that last through the home stretch of a long workout.

The texture and taste of these reminded me of any other energy chew I’ve tried in the past, although I guess the big difference here is these are organic.

Caveman Cookies

Paleo, anyone?

IMG_7049

Caveman Cookies are just like your great, great, great, great….great grandmother used to make! Made with simple ingredients (just honey, nuts, and berries), they are all natural, grain-free, dairy-free, preservative free, naturally sweetened, delicious, and make a great post workout snack!

I really really like the flavor/taste of these cookies, and if I saw them while out shopping, I would probably buy them! These cookies are chewy and tasty…very good! :0)

Health Warrior Chia Bar and Body Glove Surge

IMG_7047

Health Warrior Chia Bars are the best way to “Chia” on the go. The ultimate superfood, Chia has more omega-3’s than salmon, more fiber than oatmeal, and loaded with antioxidants and plant-based protein. Each bar has 100 calories and just 5g of sugar, perfect for a snack or pre-workout energy boost.

New Body Glove Surge is an energy gel that delivers rapid and sustained natural energy and is incredibly easy to use whether you’re in the water, on a bike, or running.

I have not tried either of these items but will soon!

Perky Jerky and Enjoy Life Seed & Fruit Mix

IMG_7048

Perky Jerky is an all natural, premium jerky that is unlike any other! It’s made with a seven ingredient marinade, which includes Guarana. It is low fat, low carb, and high protein without any preservatives, nitrites, or added MSG. It is great for a quick pre-game boost or a mid-mountain hike snack. Satisfying and portable, it’s the perfect fuel to do whatever it is that you do.

Salty, sweet, and crunchy, Enjoy Life’s Seed & Fruit mix is great for on the trail or on the go! This portable protein-packed snack features a blend of sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and dried fruit! Enjoy Life products are always Gluten Free and free from the top 8 allergens. The Seed & Fruit mix is also verified Non-GMO and Vegan!

Both of these items are going on the road with us to California as trip/snack food! Can’t wait to try them as I really like Enjoy Life’s products!

What is your favorite type of item to receive in a subscription box? Are you adventurous and like to try new things?

  1. Loved reading about Garuka Bars and just went on their website and ordered a sample bar. Tom and I trekked with the gorillas in Rwanda for two days in February and loved it. They are amazing creatures and they need alot of financial support to keep the poachers away.

  2. I love Kona Kase! I'm a subscriber! The paleo cookies weren't really my favorite...but I think there may have been some type of nut or coconut in them and I am not a fan of nuts. The Perky Jerky was good! It's a great traveling snack!

  5. It always makes me laugh when something is marketed as "naturally sweetened." Cane sugar IS natural. Looks like a nice selection!
