For starters, I’m sorry if Tropical Storm Karen is ruining anyone’s weekend. Not my fault, I promise. I don’t wish a hurricane on anyone – not fun, trust me.

What a week this has been! My best friend Kim and I spent most of Sunday afternoon making shirts for her sister to throw at her high school’s homecoming parade. Kim’s sister made homecoming court and wanted to throw more than candy at the parade. I had the idea of making shirts for us (as spectators) to wear, which ended up with Sara asking if I would also make shirts for her to throw.

Shirts galore! Their colors are gold and purple, just like LSU! Madalynn helped us make the shirts.

If you saw my video/pictures on Instagram of Turbo, he passed away Wednesday morning. Turbo belonged to Kim….she found him, abandoned by his momma, only a few days old. She’s been feeding him and taking care of him the past three weeks around the clock. She woke up Wednesday morning to find him lethargic and he passed away not long after she arrived at the vet. We stayed on the phone as she raced him to the vet and I was absolutely heartbroken for her. I know he was only around for 3 weeks, but her and I both get attached to animals really quickly. The vet told Kim that an ultrasound showed his kidney’s were not fully developed. I hope Kim is able to find comfort in the fact that Turbo was able to live as long as he did because she took such good care of him. Rest in peace, sweet Turbo.

Yesterday, I went for a run after work and was hoping to feel Fall temperatures outside – boy was I wrong! It was HOT!

Despite the heat, I had a great 4 mile run around the lake!

Tomorrow morning, I have a long run with my running group followed by our area’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K.

What’s on tap for your weekend? Whatever you have planned, I hope you have a great one!! :0)

  1. Aww I'm so sorry to hear about sweet Turbo. He was absolutely loved during his short time and I hope Kim takes some comfort in that. He probably lived a lot longer thanks to her care. Always sad to lose a furbaby. :(

Great job getting that run done! Hopefully after this weekend we will start seeing cooler weather!

And finally happy birthday to your dad! (and great job on those shirts! )

  2. Sooo sorry to hear about Turbo! :-( Great job with all your runs and workouts this week! And happy birthday to your Dad!!! This weekend I am running 11 miles (if TS Karen cooperates) and then the rest of the weekend is going to be a lazy one as TS Karen will probably not let us do much. Funny because I thought of you as soon as I heard about TS Karen lol!

  4. I was thinking of you when I heard about Hurricane Karen ( not because of the name, but because of the location). I hope it doesn't turn out to be too bad of a storm!

  7. LOL...I'm suffering through the Karen jokes the last day as well. ;) Poor kitty! We had something similar happen with a feral kitty we found and he didn't make it, but wow, three weeks. That had to be hard!

  9. Poor little Turbo.

On a side note: I am running RnR New Orleans! So excited! Do you have a hotel recommendation?

    1. YAY for RnR NOLA! Excited!! I would find a hotel that allows you a late checkout. I've yet to find one of those so I can't be of much help. Usually, I google the start line and look for hotels nearby that are pretty decently priced. With RnR NOLA, you finish in a different place than you start, so you have to get bussed back to the downtown area (it's a free bus).
