I’ve been a runner for several years now (January will make 5 years) and have accumulated quite a medal collection since then.
Several years ago, my husband purchased an Allied Medal Hanger as a birthday gift for me. Over time, the hanger became full and could no longer hold race medals. Guess that meant I needed a new one, right? :0)
Ever since Allied Medal introduced their Magical Designs, I’ve been hooked! I’m the kind of person who is a bit OCD about “likeness”. Since I already owned an Allied Medal Display, why not have another one to add to the collection?
After returning from the Disneyland Half Marathon, I showed the the medal designs to Jason as an idea for a Christmas gift. Days later, I was notified that I won an Allied Medal display of my choice from a giveaway over at Mindy’s blog, Road Runner Girl! Perfect timing! I could not have been more excited!
The medal hanger arrived yesterday and I couldn’t wait to open up the package.
I chose the “Every Mile Is Magic” design and I love love love it! It’s beautiful and perfect for my Disney medal collection!
Sadly, I had several medals (Dumbo’s Double Dare/Coast to Coast) and my photo from Goofy’s Challenge that hadn’t yet found a home. That all changed last night!
The medal hanger arrived with several screws, spacers, and drywall anchors. A quick search of their website brought up installation instructions that were very simple to follow.
After laying out my placement ideas, I got to work!
Despite the level tool, I still have several holes I’ll need to fill in and repaint. Whoops.
These spacers are seriously the best idea, ever! They kept the medal design away from the wall for easy access to the rods. I used three of the five spacers for my Disney design, so the extra two spacers went to my original “Live Your Dream” design. Now all of my Rock n Roll NOLA medals hang without a problem – the medal “ribbons” consist of Mardi Gras beads (I love them, but always had trouble displaying them)!
I am absolutely in love with the finished product!
My Disney medals are displayed from the “Magical Design” hanger and the rest are on the “Live Your Dream” hanger.
I see lots of extra space on my Magical Designs hanger…sounds like plenty of opportunities for future runDisney races to me! :0)
Thanks again, Allied Medal and Mindy! I appreciate everything!
How do you display your race medals?
The finished space is such a nice display!
ReplyDeleteThanks, LeeAnn! :0)
DeleteWow! I love your medal display! I can only hope to have that many someday :)
ReplyDeleteKaren @karenlovestorun
Thanks, Karen...you will! :0)
DeleteLove that! I'm out of room on mine, too, so I have a bar on my Christmas list :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome!! Perfect Christmas gift! :0)
DeleteI have a small medal rack for now...because I only have a handful of medals! MANY of the local races here do not give them, so I guess I'll just have to register for more Disney races! LOL
ReplyDeleteOur local races here are the same way. :0( Sad times...
DeleteOh wow, that came out so nicely! Congrats on winning it! I'll have to keep that in mind (if) I ever get to run a Disney race!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Desiree! :0)
DeleteYour running 'shrine' looks amazing! I've got 2 holders (one from Allied I love) but need another. No room at the inn!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Marcia...I completely understand! Hope you find one you love! :0)
DeleteThat is awesome Karen! You've put together a very nice display! We've been tossing up several ideas on how to display out medals but have not been able to commit to any one way yet. I have a feeling that will change very soon!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I can't wait to see what you guys come up with!
DeleteI love the setup! It looks so nice and all those medals! I only hope to have that many one day!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Ashley!
DeleteLOVE LOVE LOVE the new medal hanger.
ReplyDeleteI have an allied medal hanger - Goal: finish filling it so I can have an excuse to buy a magical one!!!!!!
Truth! I love your strategy!! :0)
DeleteYour hangers look awesome! Love it :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
DeleteThe new setup looks great and the medal hanger is the perfect addition to the space!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Suz!
DeleteYour display is beautiful Karen. I love that it is all in one place. My medal rack is in one room, some framed photos with medals over my desk and the closet has some tiny medals from local races. I need to take a lesson from you!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm sure your display(s) look beautiful as well! :0)
DeleteI love the display, looks great and you have the quite the collection of bling!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sarah!
DeleteIt turned out great! Are your framed ones from the race expo or did you make them?
ReplyDeleteYes, the framed ones are from the Expo. Thanks, Tabitha! :0)
DeleteIt looks amazing!!! I LOVE your wall of accomplishments!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mindy! :0)
DeleteSo jealous of that display! I seriously need to get around to buying one. All my medals are on 3 different pushpins. It's so sad.
ReplyDeleteHaha...aww I'm sure you'll find something you can't live without! :0)
DeleteThat is awesome! I love that its in Disney font!
ReplyDeleteLove the finished product! I am jealous of the Allied Medals hanger and the number of your runDisney medals! I am the proud owner of just one (2 if you count the 5K) Disney medals and it is one that is missing from your collection (at least I don't see it there)! The Tinkerbell Half! Good job on all of that running run and accomplishment! That is amazing!
ReplyDeleteYour medals look amazing and so many too
ReplyDeletehaha! I haven't gotten a medal to hang yet! My only half was the Zooma, and they hand out necklaces. Can't wait to add some real creds this season :)))
ReplyDeleteI knew as soon as Mindy announced the winner that you would be getting the Disney one! Of course, only a complete stranger wouldn't have known that (ha!)
