-------------------------------------------------------------

For this edition of Travel Tuesday, we arrive at Racecation Day 4….saying goodbye to San Diego and hello to Disneyland.

Paraidse Point Resort

We were sad to leave our cute little bungalow resort room, but excited to return to Disneyland once again!

On our way out, we stopped at a local breakfast joint called “The Menu”.

The Menu 2

This place reminded me of a breakfast place back home. My friends and I like to visit it after our long runs.

The Menu Breakfast

I chose this amazing French Toast. Seriously yummy!

The Menu Breakfast 3

Jason had the breakfast quesadilla. :0)

San Diego Coast

On the road again…

California Highway 5

The coast and views along I-5 were breathtaking!

Highway 5 California

Loved the coast!

Convertible Mustang

We rode with the top down….my hair loved every minute!

Anaheim Homes

Houses on hillsides fascinate me – you don’t see this where I come from!

Laguna Beach

Any Laguna fans in the house? Loved me some Laguna Beach/The Hills!

The drive from SD to DtD took a total of 1 1/2 hours. We didn’t run into any major traffic and it was smooth sailing the entire way.

Disneyland Half Marathon Start Line

The first thing I saw as we approached Downtown Disney was the Disneyland Half Marathon start line! The excitement began to settle in and I couldn’t wait to see what the next few days had in store!

Alamo Downtown Disney

Our first order of  business in Downtown Disney was to return the Mustang. Jason was not very happy about that one…

Best Buy Downtown Disney

I think he cheered up a bit when he saw the Best Buy vending machine in Downtown Disney. His response, “Here’s my souvenirs!”

We checked into the Grand Californian and thankfully, our room was ready!

Grand Californian View (2)

The view from our room – we could see Grizzly River Rapids in the background, along with fireworks from Disneyland!

Disneyland Happy Birthday

Also – I was given a Happy Birthday button and an autographed photo from Minnie Mouse upon check-in! So sweet!

We settled into our room, then realized how hungry we were!

Earl of Sandwich

Earl of Sandwich was first up on our list of Disneyland eats. We especially enjoyed this lunch because my sandwich was free – sign up for their emails and you’ll receive a sandwich coupon on your birthday, too! :0)

After enjoying a late lunch, we got in line outside of ESPN Zone to pick up our Get Travel park tickets.

Get Travel Tickets

The line was insane but once it got moving, it went by fairly quick!

Our dinner plans included Storytellers…

…and these lovely folks! We had so much fun catching up with Bobby and Heather – we hadn’t seen each other since the Spring when we spent a weekend in New Orleans.

Storytellers 2

We ate good food, laughed a lot, and really enjoyed our time together!

Storytellers 4

Our dinner ended with a Happy Birthday song and cupcake! :0)

As we returned to our room, we were greeted with a Happy Birthday towel animal and chocolates from turndown service.

Grand Californian Birthday Towel Animal

We heard popping outside our window and I was SO excited when I realized it was the Disneyland fireworks!

Disneyland Fireworks from Grand Californian

Disneyland Fireworks from Grand Californian (2)

Did you know there’s a channel on the resort room televisions that includes synchronized music to both the Disneyland Fireworks AND World of Color?! I wish I knew ahead of time, I would have played the music along with the fireworks that night.

Up tomorrow: A vlog of our SD/DtD day! Stay tuned! :0)

Do you like to watch park fireworks in the parks or do you prefer to watch them from somewhere else – a restaurant, hotel balcony, beach, etc…

  2. I love watching the fireworks.
I do prefer to be at them rather than in a hotel room.

  3. I didn't realize how close San Diego was- that drive sounded amazing!

Synchronized music to both the Disneyland Fireworks AND World of Color? That's awesome.
