This Fall, I am participating in Mommy Run Fast’s 5 or 10 miles by the 5th Challenge.
For the months of September-December, challenge participants run 5 or 10 miles by the 5th of the month and document their accomplishments in a spreadsheet. Prizes are up for giveaway each month and medals are available for purchase at the end of the challenge. I’ve enjoyed being a part of this challenge so far! Here’s recaps of my September and October runs:
Saturday morning was crisp, clear, and cold. A “perfect weather” running day. The previous weekend, I struggled with IT Band issues and barely made it to 3.5 miles. I rested all week while incorporating PT workouts back into my routine. I hoped it was enough to make a difference for Saturday’s long run.
Heather and I really took advantage of the cooler temps on Saturday morning. I noticed my IT Band was tight around mile 5, so we stopped for water and I stretched. Thankfully, the pain was not near what I experienced the previous Saturday. We continued our run and finished out at 8 miles total! I felt tightness in my leg/hip and was glad that 8 miles was my goal for Saturday. I could not have continued on much further. Even so, I’m very grateful I was able to make it that far. A huge improvement over 3.5 miles!
4 + 4 = 8….except we look like we are throwing up gang signs…we aren’t, I promise! :0)
After the run, Kelli and I enjoyed breakfast at Panera.
I giggled when I placed my order because I requested a skinny vanilla latte without whip (the latte was free on my rewards card) and a cinnamon/sugar bagel. :0)
Seriously though, have you ever tried their cinnamon/sugar bagels? Oh my goodness…they are SO good! A must try for sure!
After breakfast, I wandered around our brand new Dick’s Sporting Goods and discovered these bad boys…
I tested one out in the store and all I can say is WOW. I think these should be called a “Torture Roller”, not a “Rumble Roller”.
Guess what’s now on my Christmas list.
How was your weekend? Anything adventurous happen? Who’s running Wine & Dine? I hope you have a fabulous time! Can’t wait to read your recaps and see your updates on social media!!
Those "bagels" are to die for. I miss the days of high school where our tennis tournaments were full of those cinnamon crunch bagels! Glad to hear your IT AND is doing better.
ReplyDeleteOh yes...to die for is right! Panera just opened in my town about 2 months ago so these are totally new to me...and that's not a good thing, either! :0)
DeleteI think I had that bagel once after a race last year...very tasty! So glad your IT band didn't give you too much trouble this weekend :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jen...me too!! :0)
DeleteI LOVE Panera Bread bagels! The chocolate chip one is my favorite! So glad the IT Band cooperated for you!!!!
ReplyDeleteYes! Love them, too!! Thanks, Mindy! :0)
DeleteThose bagels are so so good. I usually only visit Panera at lunch time so I seldom get them. We can't wait to get to WDW for Wine and Dine and will be posting lots of photos!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to follow along in the W&D fun! Have a great time!!
Deleteglad you could run 8! We leave for wine and dine wednesday and are driving half way. woo hoo!
ReplyDeleteThanks, friend!! Y'all have a safe trip! :0)
DeleteI seriously love Panera, unfortunately the nearest Panera to me is a sold 2.5 hours!
ReplyDeleteLove those bagels!
Ohh no! I can sort of relate...we didn't have a panera anywhere remotely close to us until about 2 months ago. Just not right! :0)
DeleteI love Panera, especially their bread bowls and soup! Delicious! Hope that IT gets better.. Keep rolling..
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried their bread bowls yet! That might be next... :0) Thanks!
DeleteI always want Panera after your posts on Instagram! LOL! I love it there. Plus, the my Panera card is great - tons of freebies!
ReplyDeleteToo funny!! Yes I agree, I love their rewards program! :0)
DeleteThat 5 or 10 mile challenge looks fun! I may start that little challenege with myself! I'm another one who will be leaving for WDW soon!
ReplyDeleteGood idea!! :0) Have a fabulous time in Disney!
DeleteYall are precious!!!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could run with you both sometime!
Awww, we would love that, Nicole!!
DeleteHope that IT band stops giving you trouble Karen! Ah, the dreaded bagel. Yes, I have had them, against my better judgement b/c I cannot afford those calories...or the urge to eat multiple bagels once I've had one! LOL. Nothing big going on this weekend for me except work and stalking all the runners at W&D!
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you are talking about! They definitely leave you craving more! :0)
DeleteThat is a huge improvement... hope it continues to get better!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! My fingers are definitely crossed! :0)
