Christmas in in full swing here at my house!
I began decorating the weekend before Thanksgiving because I was out of town for Thanksgiving/the weekend. One of my favorite Holiday traditions includes watching Hallmark Channel Christmas movies, in the living room, with with the Christmas lights aglow. I absolutely love this time of year!
The idea for a Mickey front door wreath came from a Disney message board several years ago.
Two of my favorite sets are by my front door – my grandmother’s nativity and my little Disney village.
Christmas villages were always a thing with my grandmother and I know she would have loved this one!
Breakfast nook – the reindeer on the table is also a decoration that belonged to my grandmother.
I decided to decorate two trees this year. The tree show in my dining room is a 6 ft tree and it belonged to my grandmother. After she passed away, my grandfather gave all of her Christmas decorations to me. With his passing this year, I thought it seemed fit to put their tree up once again.
This tree is decorated with red/green ornaments I had on hand and there’s only one “hidden Mickey” on this tree. :0)
Dining room place setting, Winterberry by Pfaltzgraff – given as a Christmas gift from my parents several years ago.
Disney snow globes from JC Penney, a collection from Black Friday mornings since 2000. Currently, I’m missing two – back in the “early” days of 2000/2001, there was an assortment of globes handed out. Apart from Pooh and Piglet, Tigger was also given out…and apart from Mickey holding a wreath, Minnie Mouse holding mistletoe was also given out. For some reason, I’m thinking there were three globes handed out in 2000, but I cant remember which other globe was given out with Pooh/Piglet and Tigger. I’m thinking it was not a 100 Acre Woods character?
In order to (mostly) complete my collection, I was missing a 2012 snow globe (JC Penney didn’t give out snow globes in 2012). They saw a snow globe tweet of mine and asked for my address – within days, a 2012 snow globe had arrived at my door direct from JC Penney! I was stoked!
(Pam, I got it!! Yay!)
My puppies wondered what all the fuss was about! It’s Christmas time, girls!!
Last but definitely not least, the tree!
Our tree is filled with Hallmark ornaments, ornaments from trips we’ve travelled together, and ornaments that hold special memories or meaning.
I have so many favorite ornaments, I can’t pick just one (but my runDisney ornaments definitely rank high on the list)!
What’s your favorite part of the holidays? Do you have a special decoration or ornament that holds special meaning?
Aft one point I had a tree filled with ornaments that we had collected over the years, but one day I came home to find the tree on its side and most the ornaments smashed. Sigh. The assumption is that the dogs and cats had some sort of kerfuffle and the tree was a casualty
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness I think I would die!! I'm so sorry that happened! :0/
DeleteI love all your decorations Karen! What a great Mickey wreath! Did you make that? I am also loving the Mickey wreath holder on your door. I would like to get one of those. I currently use a snowman one that was my grandma's. After her passing I too got a lot of her Christmas decor (she decorated in snowman). I think it is so special when we can decorate with stuff our grandparents had! I am surprised to see how many different Disney Villages there are. I have a princess village and also a Main Street village, but it seems to be different than the one you showed. I like villages but each year it seems I run out of room to display them! (wow, sorry for the long response). Your decorations look amazing as does your tree! You've created a very Christmassy environment in your home!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I agree, it's always more special when handed down from loved ones! Yes, I did make the wreath...it was fairly easy to make, I'll look for the instructions! The holder came from the disney store about 5 years ago. My disney village is a mix between some I found locally and a few pieces from WDW...I definitely can't hold any additional pieces on that table! Thanks again!
DeleteYour decorations are awesome! So beautiful! And I LOVE the Mickey wreath!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mindy!! :0)
DeleteSo excited you got the snow globe for 2012. Yay for JC Penney...that is amazing they did that. Three cheers for Twitter!
ReplyDeleteYes!! I couldn't believe it...was so out of the blue! Thanks, Pam! Apparently there was also a "golden" 2013 Snowglobe that was very rare this year...can't seem to find a pictire of it, though...
DeleteLove it! I have a lot more Christmas decorations at work, but I do have my tree at home.
ReplyDeleteWork! My work site is so bare! I need decorations there! Thanks for the idea!!
DeleteBeautiful! Our decorations include a giant tree, Willow Tree nativity scene, Mickey ornament holder (with our favorite ornaments) and other items. I would love to decorate more, but I need to keep adding to the collection!
ReplyDeleteLove the Willow Tree set...beautiful! I know what you mean...I've added to my collection over time!
DeleteOh wow your decorations are just breathtaking! Love them all! The Mickey wreath is just perfect too!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Desiree!

ReplyDeleteThank you, Paige!
DeleteYAY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!! and PUPPIES!!!!!!!!! and DISNEY!!!!!!!!! (can you tell I'm excited?!?!?) LOL. Love Christmastime and decorating! We have a Disney ornament from each trip, I think they are some of my favorite decorations. Oh and handmade stuff from when the kids were little. I love pulling those out each year as they get older.
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen! I love sentimental ornaments! :0)
DeleteYour decorations are beautiful. I just love you mickey mouse wreath. It's so cool!! :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE christmas, and most decorations so, I don't have one favourite ornament but I do have a few that I have picked up on various travels that have sentimental value so are more treasured than others.
Thanks! Love the sentimental value of Christmas decorations! Travel ones are especially my favorite! :0)
DeleteLove the Disney village where did you get it? I looked a the ones in WDW and they were SO expensive.
ReplyDeleteThank you...and I know what you mean! Randy and Melissa sent us a few pieces from WDW - the others came from Walgreens several years ago.
