Many many years ago, a friend introduced me to a yummy Christmas treat called “Reindeer Food” and I look forward to it every year. I’ve tweaked, added, and taken away from the recipe over the years, so here’s my version of this popular recipe.
Reindeer Food
Ingredients:
1 package 10 oz mini pretzels
5 cups of cheerios (I like Honey Nut)
5 cups of corn chex
2 cups salted peanuts
1 pound of plain Christmas M&M’s
1 package of almond bark
Directions:
In a large bowl, combine first 5 ingredients. I combined them all in a very large pot on top of the stove (stove off).
In a glass bowl, heat almond bark in microwave, starting at 30 second intervals, stirring each time. Heat until almond bark is smooth – do not overheat.
Pour almond bark over cereal mixture and mix well.
Spread onto parchment or wax paper and sift powdered sugar on top.
Allow to cool, then break apart into pieces.
Serve and enjoy!
Ingredients
Dry ingredients in a large pot on the stove
Melted almond bark
Ready to spread!
Mix well, make sure the almond bark covers everything in the pot/bowl.
Drying
Reindeer Food will be a huge hit at your party, I assure you!
What’s your favorite dish to bring to a Christmas/Holiday party?
That looks yummy and so festive. One of my favorite things to make for a holiday party is a peppermint roll. I'll be making one tonight so maybe I should post about it!
ReplyDeleteOooh that sounds delicious! I've never tried a peppermint roll but I might have to make one next year! Have a great Christmas!!
DeleteYum!!
ReplyDeleteI always bring pudding shots to parties now. Its my assumed duty, and I don't mind :)
Sounds like fun!! :0) Have a great Christmas, Alicia!
DeleteI've had that before! Didn't know it was called reindeer food...so yummy! When we say reindeer food around here...we are talking about oats with glitter in them that we spread out onto the grass Christmas Eve for Santa's reindeer to eat when they come to our house that night! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI've heard of that too, Mindy - sounds adorable and like so much fun for the kids! Love it!
DeleteThis looks amazing..
ReplyDeleteI wonder if I could somehow do it with GF foods. I would gobble it all up.
I bet you could! Hope you have a great Christmas, Abby! :0)
DeletePinned it for next year. Looks delish!
