Well, it sounds like a I did a whole lot of nothing this week but that’s not true – I took two rest days after my 21 miler because I was worried about my knee. I have a super sore spot on my IT Band and my Rumble Roller is helping take care of that. I think we are kind of becoming friends…maybe a little…finally.

I have a 10 mile run this weekend (not sure if I’m going to tackle that one today or wake up super early tomorrow morning). I’m also volunteering for the Color Vibe on Saturday morning – this will be my first time to volunteer at a race! Our Relay for Life Committee has a booth/water table, so that’s where I’ll be. Should be fun, hope I don’t get drenched! I don’t have to be there until 7:30 a.m., so I’m thinking of running around 5:30 and getting my mileage in before volunteering. We shall see, I haven’t quite made up my mind yet.

This weekend is the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend! This race weekend will always hold a special place in my heart because it was my very first Half Marathon and a few years later, my first Full Marathon. I also said I would never run Goofy’s Challenge and last year, I also completed that challenge.

I have several friends in Disney right now, if you want to follow along in the runDisney fun, check out their Instagram/Twitter/Facebook links below:

Have a great weekend! Have you ever volunteered at a race? Any tips for me?

  1. I keep meaning to volunteer at our local marathon, I already go and watch it, so why not get involved? But I can't seem to ever find anyone else willing to do so, and I'm not an outgoing people person, so I think I might work on recruiting a friend or two early on!

    1. I completely understand how you feel! I don't think I would have volunteered had it not been for Relay for Life with people I knew. Have a great weekend!

  2. Volunteering is great! Have fun. I volunteered once during WDW Marathon weekend last year and had a blast!

  3. I think taking time off after you were sore was the right move. I ended up taking a nonscheduled rest day Monday too.

  4. Wow you have so many big things coming up! :) I think it sounds like you totally deserved that extra rest day. Good luck with your upcoming races! I'll definitely check out your Disney friends! (I so wish I was there this weekend!)

  5. I wish I was there this weekend too! It holds a very special place in my heart as well. I said I would never do a marathon, I did one. I said "Goofy" is crazy and now I'm considering! Have a great weekend and rest up that knee! Don't over do it!!
