Happy Friday, friends! I hope you’ve all had a great week!!

Last night, I ordered one of the final pieces of my Princess Half Marathon costume…now all that’s left is to put the pieces together.

Sparkle a Little Brighter

I’m super excited about this one – can’t wait to wear my first Sparkle Skirt!

On the running front, I did really well this week!

Foru Mile Run

I pushed myself on Monday for my afternoon run and it felt great. I was worried because my Saturday 8 miler wasn’t the best…my legs felt like lead on Saturday. However, I felt back to normal on Monday! Yay!

Louisiana Sunset

Love running as the sun sets – my favorite time of day for a run!

It’s King Cake season again!!

Louisiana King Cake Mardi Gras

One of our patients brought this beauty to us yesterday afternoon. I had a slice that was filled with Bavarian cream (omg). It was delicious!

After work, I decided to take Madalynn along for a 3 mile run.

Running With My Dog

Not gonna like, our run wasn’t the best – our mile splits were 9:20, 9:23, and 9:18. She doesn’t often stop during our runs but today, she stopped a lot – either to sniff, pee, or hunt for squirrels. Silly mischievous little girl!

After deciding to call it quits at mile 3, a memory of the King Cake I had at work crossed my mind. I didn’t feel as if I had a really good, hard run with Madalynn…so I dropped her off at home and continued on to 4 miles. My last mile was an 8:33 pace…I felt much better after adding in that last mile.

Geaux RunFour Mile Run 2

I’m also going to add in another run today. My knee has held up well so I’m crossing my fingers for NOLA! Only two weeks…

Last but not least, for those of you participating in the Tinkerbell Half Marathon weekend races and Houston, I hope you have a wonderful time!

No One Can Take Away Your Finish LIne

Also, a special shout out to one of my BRF’s Heather – she’s running the Houston Marathon this weekend. I know she’s going to kick booty!!

Did anything exciting happen to you this week? What are your weekend plans? Hope you have a great one!

I’m running 10 miles with a few friends followed by a friend’s wedding shower in the afternoon. Can’t wait!

  1. Your first Sparkle! You'll love it!!! Once I had one, I couldn't stop, now I have enough that it's all I run in. Have you found anything that specifically helps your knee? I'm having some knee issues after my 10 miler on Sunday.

    1. Yay! I'm excited to wear my first sparkle skirt! :D For my knee, I foam roll, do leg exercises, and I load up on atomic balm/Biofreeze on longer runs. I also wear a neoprene sleeve on my knee for longer runs, it does the trick (almost all of the time).

  2. I came across your blog last night while searching for Run Disney and I just started following your blog! I just started running last month and I have fallen in love with it! I am doing the Color Run in April and then Im going to do the Disneyland 10K in August! Are you gonna run that one too?

My exciting thing of the week is that I am getting Lasik today!! So this weekend me and my bf are having a fun date night out and seeing a movie on Sunday!

    1. Wonderful!!! Thanks for stopping by! The Disneyland 10K is so much fun, you're gonna love it. The color run is a lot of fun as well! I won't be in Disneyland again, unfortunately. I'm planning on running wine and dine in the fall.

Lasik, that's great! I'm a contact wearer so I feel your pain on that one. Have a great weekend!! Best of luck to you, thanks again for stopping by!

  4. Ha, at firt glance I thought Madalynn was wearing a race bib! I feel the same way about running with my lab. She is great company but can't get in more than 3.1 miles cus she gets distracted! I enjoy reading about Mardi Gra from you Southern folks. I've never had King cake before so I live that part vicariously through you all!
Also I love those quotes you posted (both of them). I had seen one that said "Don't be afraid to Dream a little Bigger Darling" and had always wanted to hang it in my classroom, but never did!
