Currently training for…..
Nothing in particular?
Now I find myself at that awkward place where I’m not training for a long-distance race, just a few 5K’s and shorter races here and there.
I need a new goal and a focus. This week, I’m going to work on finding it! :0)
Here’s how this past week looked:
Saturday – Rest Day due to sickness
Sunday – Rest Day due to sickness
Monday – Squats/Lunges/Resistance Bands leg work
Tuesday – Biggest Loser Power X-Train; 25 minutes
Wednesday – 3 miles with Jason
Thursday – 2 mile walk with Jason/puppies
Friday – Rest Day
I’m planning on running tomorrow and Sunday, hence the rest day on Friday. I usually take Sunday as my rest day but I’m changing it around this week.
Also, I became sick after the Princess Half Marathon (apparently so did many others) and it’s still lingering on – aka the “Florida Plague”. I’m hoping it clears up soon because I’m tired of coughing and blowing my nose. I’m a vitamin/pro-biotics regular and I added AirBorne into my regime last week. I’m trying to avoid an antibiotic so we shall see…keeping my fingers crossed!
Tuesday was a dreary/nasty/super cold day, so I decided to do something I hadn’t done in a really shamefully long time - crosstrain…really, put effort into it, build up a sweat, crosstrain. Can we say OUCH?! I’m embarrassed to say, but it still hurt to walk last night (hence the reason I didn’t push myself this other workouts this week). I’m really hoping I feel better this weekend because I need to RUN. It’s been far too long! I also really need to add a cross train routine of some sort to my weekly training regime (a fact that has become painfully obvious to me – literally).
Family out for an afternoon stroll…a quick one at that!
In other news:
This happened this week!
So did Mardi Gras! I enjoyed a slice of strawberry cream cheese King Cake and a nice cup of tea – yes sir! It was delicious! :0)
I hope you all had a wonderful week!
What’s your favorite way to cross train and how do you work it into your weekly regime? How do you stay motivated when there’s not a long distance race in your immediate future? I need some ideas! Have a wonderful weekend!!
I'm also dealing with the Florida crud and was given an antibiotic prescription by my doctor yesterday. She thinks I will be fine without it, but like you, I am sick of blowing my nose and the occasional cough. I need to be well for my race next weekend!
ReplyDeleteUgh that stinks, Pam! I hope you feel better soon!!
DeleteI've been doing almost all strength training to fix my ITBS. I didn't focus on cardio at all, and now that I'm starting to, I'm feeling how out of shape I am :-p
ReplyDeleteOh no! Guess I'll have to be careful, then!!
DeleteSo sorry you got sick after Princess! I am just like you....I need a goal to stay motivated! In the summertime it is especially hard for me to stay motivated since it's too hot to race. That's when I participate in the Runner's World Run Streak where I run at least one mile every day. It really helps me stay motivated to run in the summertime. Good luck finding your goal!!!
ReplyDeleteUgh, running down here in the Summer is the worst! Love the RW streak! Thanks, Mindy!
DeleteUh oh post-Disney sickness. We all know it's from lack of enough time at WDW ;0) Seriously though, I hope you're feeling better soon!
ReplyDeleteI need to crosstrain more. I have a couple of Jillian Michaels' DVD's that I use and plan on getting back to them next week sometime. Yoga is also very enjoyable for a different idea!
Sometimes it can be nice not training for any race in particular and just enjoying the physical fitness. I get race itches pretty quickly though lol They are just so much fun!
Love Jillian's DVD's! Race itches hit me, too...for instance, I'm running a 5K on Saturday! :D
DeleteI was actually surprised I didn't get sick after Princess! I usually do after race weekends in WDW. Sometimes I think it's good to take some time to rest ad not have a goal, or maybe have a cross training goal, or to lift weights so many times per week? Could be a good change up for a month or so.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea, Heather. Changing things up for a month might help me recharge!
DeleteYep -- I came home from Dopey with the same symptoms! Not fun. Feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean -- I feel like I have to have a "big" race on my calendar in order to stay focused! My cross-training is martial arts...so when I'm in a running rut, like I am now, I just try to make it to as many classes as possible. When the weather warms up (that is...IF it ever warms up) I also can't wait to take my bike out again. Cycling is an awesome activity to do when you're just not feeling up to running!
Also...I'm super jealous you're running Wine and Dine this year! It'll be a blast! :)
Ugh YUCK! Hope you are feeling better now, Jennifer! Cycling sounds perfect - I might have to take my bike out over the weekend! Hope it warms up for you soon!
DeleteStrawberry cream cheese king cake? That sounds so freaking good! Hope you're feeling 100% soon!
ReplyDeleteYES! It was delicious!! :D Thanks so much, I'm feeling much better now!
DeleteIt seems like everyone was sick this week. Yikes. Hope you are feeling much better now.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Abby! I am feeling much better! :D
DeleteI am crossing my fingers that I don't get the crud my kids have, hope you are back to 100% now!
ReplyDeleteUgh I hope you didn't, either! Thanks, I am!! :0)
