It’s no secret, I’m a busy bee and I love to travel. Seeing new sights, new places and new experiences is exciting to me.
When we discovered that my husband’s time off work fit with a long holiday weekend, we immediately began planning a little getaway. Jason chose this destination, since he’s always following me around on runDisney races (and I gladly let him choose, since he follows me around without complaint)!
His best friend lives in Florida….so guess where we are going? Yep, Florida! Jason’s friend likes to joke with me that I think the state of Florida is encompassed inside Walt Disney World. I’ve never been to Universal and only visited Sea World/Busch Gardens in my childhood. Disney just makes it so EASY – they pick you up at the airport and a week in the World is like an all inclusive stay (if you purchase the dining plan). He can’t complain too much, him and his wife are big Disney fans, too.
Anyway, after discussing many different options, they narrowed down our weekend to an overnight stay at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort (we just can’t get away, can we?) and a day adventure in St. Augustine! We haven’t visited either location and are looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend.

I’ve also never spent time at a beach on the East Coast, so this will be a weekend of firsts for me!

On Saturday mornings, Shutters restaurant at Vero Beach offers a character breakfast (which we booked, of course….)!

I’ve done a bit of research on the city of St. Augustine and it sounds fascinating! I can’t wait to explore and see the sights!
It didn’t hit me until last night that this trip is here…like now! We have someone watching our house for us, the dogs are being taken care of, and we are ready to go!
I’m excited to get away and spend the weekend with friends. Catching up on sleep and relaxing on the beach sounds incredible to me right about now!
Be sure to follow Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for updates on all the fun!!
Have you ever visited Vero Beach or St. Augustine? What should we see/do/eat? Would love to hear about your experience!

I've been to both! I grew up in Vero and now I live about 30 minutes from St Augustine. In Vero, I would just enjoy the beach! And St George Street is always great when you get to Saint Augustine. Have fun this weekend!

DeleteMy parents had a second home in Vero Beach for quite a few years and one year, Tom and I stayed at the Disney Vero property during a Christmas visit since there was not enough space for all of us at Mom and Dad's home. It is a lovely property and you will enjoy it.Have a great mini vacation!
ReplyDeleteThat's so neat!! I love it!
DeleteWe've been to plenty of beaches on the East Coast but have never been to any of the Disney Vacation Club ones! Take lots of pictures! I would love to see how disney-esque these resorts are seeing that they are outside of Disney world! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteI definitely will! Thanks so much!
DeleteOOO this looks like an awesome trip!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sarah!
DeleteHow exciting! And I love that you are still doing a little bit of Disney! ;-) On the way to our cruise on our honeymoon we stopped in St. Augustine for the day! We visited the fort, Flagler College (which I had considered attending when I was looking into colleges), and of course we went to the beach. I will say that I love my white sand Gulf of Mexico beaches much better. But it was still beautiful to experience a different beach with rocks! St. Augustine was a neat place! Can't wait to see all your pictures!
ReplyDeleteSo cool!! Thanks, Mindy!
DeleteI didn't know they had a resort there. I knew about the one in Hawaii. Poor kids are out there thinking that Goofy will show up everywhere their parents take them. LOL....have fun!
ReplyDeleteThere's another at Hilton Head in South Carolina, too! Disney is everywhere! LOL

ReplyDeletehow fun! I have never been to vero beach
ReplyDeleteWe go to Disney's Vero Beach resort every year. We were just there in March. If it is offered on the night you are there, star gazing on the pier is amazing. The camp fire sing along is always fun and then they roast smores. We love the character breakfast so I am glad you reserved that one. Have a great time!
