Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend Plans

I apologize for a lack of updates yesterday. On Monday, I felt as if I was coming down with something – a killer headache plagued me all day and I felt awful. When I returned home from work, I went straight to bed and slept for the remainder of the afternoon.

Apparently all I needed was sleep…I woke up on Tuesday morning feeling 100%!

On Sunday, we hit our 180 day mark for the Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend! With a few hours to spare on our way back from spending time with friends (my dad was driving), I called Disney Dining and made a few reservations for our upcoming trip.

We are doing a split stay - four nights at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and 2 nights at Port Orleans Riverside, both with the Disney Dining Plan.

Here’s a few of our dining reservations:

  • Splitsville Dinner on the 1st day
  • Akershus Lunch (Anyone eaten lunch here? What were your thoughts?)
  • Ohana Dinner (You knew it was coming, didn’t you?)
  • Liberty Tree Tavern Dinner and hopefully Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party!

For our last two days, we are trying to decide between Chef Mickey’s, The Wave at the Contemporary (any thoughts on this one?) and Whispering Canyon Café. Go with new or stick with old favorites? Such a tough decision! :0)

I would also like to throw a No Way Jose from Beaches & Cream in there somewhere – we’ll see!

As far as the races go (isn’t that the whole point of the weekend anyway..hah), Jason and I are running Mickey’s Jingle Jungle 5K together and I’m running the Wine & Dine Half Marathon with a few friends! We also have park hopper tickets for the length of our stay.

I cannot wait to show Disney World and introduce runDisney to our friends for the first time! We are going to have a blast!! :0)

What’s your next runDisney race? Do you like to make dining reservations early?

  1. So fun that you are introducing friends to runDisney. The Jingle Jungle 5k is so much fun and the holiday themed costumes are the best. We also enjoyed MVMCP....sounds like a great trip with delicious restaurant choices too!

  4. My next Run Disney event is TOT. Honestly, I don't usually make dining reservations (bad I know). But so far it hasn't put a damper on my trips as I really have been able to get into places when I get there. As far as Akershus, I was only there one time many years ago and remember as being my least favorite meal ever on disney property ( or possibly anywhere). My husband picked the place so I politely agreed. At the time, it was a lunch buffet. I guess i'm just not into Norwegian food. It was a lot of cold fish, pickled herring, salmon, loks, stuff like that. I did not taste any of that stuff, so it may have tasted wonderful if that is what you like. It just wasn't for me. Ok, I just realized I sound so negative here. I'm sorry! Take what I say with a grain of salt! The other restaurants are fabulous!

  7. My aunt is running Wine and Dine, I am so excited for everyone getting their reservations done. It is her first runDisney too!

I cancelled our Akershus lunch for Princess weekend, it was just so crowded when we went by and we were not ready for that at lunch time.
