Essential Gear Review: Flip Belt

When I think of “essential” gear used for running, I think of shoes, dry wick clothing, distance trackers, etc.

Over the past several years, I’ve had difficulty with the Marathon – not because of my knee, but because of the amount of stuff a runner has to carry around for 26.2 miles.

I’ve tried several different forms of belts and arm pouches – one time, I even used only the pockets from one of my skirts!

Nothing I tried did the trick – if I had a belt around my waist/hips, it flopped around and drove me crazy; the arm pouch never held all of my gels; when my skirt pockets became overstuffed, I looked ridiculous.

At the Rock ‘n’ Roll New Orleans Expo, I stopped by the Flip Belt table to check out their product. I’d heard of Flip Belt in the past, but I’m a “gotta see it to believe it” kinda person. I also like to try on running gear before I purchase anything.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to purchase a Flip Belt at the Expo because prior bad weather prevented trucks from delivering a supply (the South practically froze over only days before the race) .

Thankfully, these guys were at the Princess Half Marathon Expo and I was able to purchase a belt there! Yay! Even though I’ve gushed about this Flip Belt in prior blog posts and YouTube videos, I wanted to give you a better idea of this belt and all it’s done for me as a runner!

Here’s a few pictures of the belt…

There are four main pocket openings that hold a ton of stuff!

Even my iPhone WITH an Otterbox fits perfectly inside!

The Flip Belt has now taken the place of an armband when running – even if I’m only running a shorter weekday distance. I tuck my iPhone into the belt and plug my headphones into the phone…it works out perfectly!

Another thing I love about the Flip Belt – it fits well (and snug) but doesn’t even look like you’re wearing anything around your waist (unless it’s FULL of things).

I wore my Flip Belt for last weekend’s 5K and as you can see…you can’t tell I’m wearing anything around my waist! (That’s seriously my favorite part about this belt!) The belt in the photo above carried my iPhone, a pair of headphones, and my car keys!

Flip Belts come in many sizes and colors.

I chose Gray because I wanted a neutral color, but the Aqua color is beautiful, too!

Flip Belt sizes range from XS to XL. Their website also includes a sizing chart for accuracy of sizing.
So, there you have it…one of my favorite pieces of running gear, an “essential” to me!

Disclaimer: I did not receive compensation for this review. I purchased this Flip Belt on my own and without any persuasion. I simply love this belt and wanted to share it with all of you, with hopes that someone else may benefit from this product!

When running races, what’s your go-to pouch/belt? Anything you’ve found that you love

  3. I've heard of flip belts but never tried one. I usually wear a hydration belt but it only has a tiny pocket for all my gels. My keys and other gels are usually in my skirt pockets. My phone is always in my hand. I'll have to check out the Flip Belt!

  4. I am amazed with how much stuff fits in that little belt. I want to get one for my friend who started running and has been carrying her keys and her phone while she runs.

  6. As you know, I love my Flip Belt too. My favorite part about the belt is the lack of visibility under a top.
