Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend! On Friday, I shared that my #1 goal for the weekend was to catch up on my sleep and (thankfully), I got to do just that! Rainy weekends are the best for sleeping, aren’t they? :0)
Friday afternoon, I took a 2 hour nap after work. I debated sleeping in on Saturday morning and skipping my run, but I felt better after my nap. (Don’t we all think more clearly once we’ve had sleep?)
Saturday morning, I woke up and prepared for a rainy day long run. I left my phone in my car, wore a visor, etc. Guess what? It didn’t rain until AFTER we were finished running. Seriously, we got in our cars to drive away and that’s when it began to rain.
I had my visor for rain and didn’t end up needing it. Had I not worn my visor and brought my phone along on my run, the rain would have started right away. Story of my life!
After my run, I came home and made breakfast instead of eating out elsewhere. I decided to try my hand at grain-free waffles (no coconut flour or almond flour, either)…and they were pretty darn good if I do say so myself!
Know what I did after breakfast? I took another 2 hour nap! :D
On Saturday night, Jason and I went out for dinner and a little shopping. Yes, I convinced him to go shopping with me! We found this shirt at the mall and I immediately sent a picture to a few cross-fit friends of mine! Hilarious!
Sunday morning, we went to Church then had lunch with my parents. After we returned home, I attempted to finish up a few things in the backyard while fighting off wasps. UGH. Red wasps were everywhere – seriously, at least 5 of them were flying around. Wasps + me = no go. Ah well, at least I finished what I needed to do! I also cleaned out the garage – which needed it in a BAD way. It looks SO much better now!
Another weekend DIY project we began looks a lot like this:
Yes, I know I said I would NEVER do another DIY project ever again. Guess what? My husband is in charge of this one! :0) After attempting to contact multiple floor guys about changing out the tile, we spoke with someone at Lowe’s who reassured us that replacing three tiles on our own would be ok…so we’ll see what happens. Watch a youtube video, he said….it will be easy, he said…well, I’ve heard all of that before….which is why I’m staying out of this project!
I figure if it looks horrible, we will call someone to come fix it. Never know until you try! We must be really brave…or just really dumb. Guess we’ll see in the end!
Last but not least, I received a surprise on Sunday! A friend of mine just returned from Disney and brought a few rice crispy treats to me! As an added “surprise”, she even threw a Frozen one in the mix! Love it! I can’t remember if I said this already or not, but she got engaged on her recent WDW trip! Her fiancĂ© proposed on the side of the castle by the wishing fountain. I’m so glad her family caught the whole thing on video – I was dying to see how it all played out!
How do you spend your time on rainy weekends?
P.S. – Keep your eye out for a review of the Pop Sugar July Must Have Box on the blog this week!
OMG, I love that shirt! Where did you find it?
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great weekend. I heart sleep :)
The shirt was in Pink (VS). Loved it!! Thanks, sleep is so wonderful!
DeleteWe get very few rainy weekends around here, especially in the summer. I'd rather have them in the summer or on a weekend than during a school day. They tend to lead to cancelled recesses and indoor lunches which lead to very excited students. I enjoy running in the rain, though.
ReplyDeleteUgh I can imagine that sucks!
DeleteI love rainy weekends and naps! It's the best way to re-charge from your week!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you escaped the rain on your run on Saturday...but I with you...had you taken your phone there would have been monsoon like weather :)
WhatTheHeckWhyNot?
I couldn't agree more! Love naps on rainy weekends! :)
DeleteSounds like a fun and relaxing weekend Karen! Luckily I got to do my long run Saturday morning too...it just got delayed by an hour due to the rain. But I didn't get rained on during the run! But I was prepared with my phone in a ziploc bag lol!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you got your long run in despite the rain!
DeleteThat breakfast and those rice krispie treats look SOOO yummy!! I think I am hungry now :0)
ReplyDeleteGlad you were able to catch up on some sleep!
Oooh yes, love me some rice crispy treats! I save them up for special occasions! :D
DeleteLove your shirt!! Sorry about the rain :(
ReplyDeleteThe 2hr nap sounds great right now!
Thanks, Sarah! The nap was amazing!
DeleteI loved the weather last week, but now it's back to normal. The heat index is awful today :(
ReplyDeleteUgh I agree...wish that cool weather would return!
DeleteWe are in the middle of a rainy week, but that is okay. Next week we leave for a 3 week vacation and I have tons to do. Rainy days are not a bad thing and lucky you to avoid it during your long run!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy running in the rain every once in a while. :) Hope y'all had a good time on your vacay!
DeleteRainy days are meant for napping! Our weather in FL leaves us with many rainy afternoons. Luckily I haven't had to run in the rain just yet. But naps? I'm all good with those!
ReplyDeleteYES! I couldn't agree more!! :)
DeleteYou have a good friend to bring you back Disney goodies. I like your visor. I think my parents have that same glass you have shown with your breakfast. Is it a Disney glass from a LONG time ago?
ReplyDeleteI agree...she's a great friend! YES, that's one of those olllld Disney glasses! Haha!
