I hate it when three day weekends come to an end. They are so rare and fly by so fast, they are over before you know it!
This past 4th of July weekend was a ton of fun – I enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Here’s a glimpse of the fun we had…
After Friday’s race, I stopped at Panera for breakfast to-go. I had a friend coming over, so I made sure to pick up my favorite hazelnut coffee for her to try and she loved it!
The doggies were ready for the 4th of July, too…or maybe they just wanted a bite of my bagel. Same difference.
The remainder of my day was spent on baby shower decorations and cooking dinner for my family!
We had BBQ pulled pork (slow cooker style) on low carb tortillas or wheat buns, chips, and cheese dip.
For dessert, I made red velvet cake balls and cupcakes – I split the batter in half which made 12 cupcakes…the rest went to cake balls. We also had cookie cake and fruit.
After dinner, my dad, my brother, my sister in law, my husband, and I headed downtown for fireworks.
They were beautiful as always!
I attempted to set Wishes on my phone but there were too many people around and my phone’s reception freaked out.
Saturday morning was our running group’s first official day of Fall Marathon training. We re-signed for the next year, met new runners, and received a training plan from our coach.
I was happy to see my friends again! It’s been a long while since all three of us have been together. After a six mile run, we had breakfast at our local favorite diner.
I was given the Half-Marathon Level 2 training schedule from my coach and after looking it over, I think it will work for me! I realize the top is deceptive – I’m NOT running all of the Half Marathons listed above. At this moment, I have 4 half marathons in mind – I haven’t fully decided on a full marathon yet…not sure if there will be one, we shall see!
Saturday afternoon, I got to spend time with Jason’s sister/brother in law and this sweet little girl (my niece)! They were in town because of job reasons, so it was nice to see them (they live 13+ hours away). I’m praying that everything works out for them to move back home…we would love to see them more often!
We went to church on Sunday and spent the rest of the weekend lounging around. :0) It was a great weekend and I didn’t want it to come to an end!
How was your weekend? Did you race? Spend time with family? BBQ? I wanna hear all about it!
Those 4th of July desserts look like heaven.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great time! BOTH your dogs are beautiful but I just think Madeline (sp) is such a doll! What kind of dog is she?
ReplyDeleteWe had a BBQ and pool party at a friend's house on Saturday. The first two days this weekend were a lot of fun, but I definitely needed Sunday to unwind and just be lazy.
ReplyDeleteMmmm all those desserts looks so yummy! Glad you had a great long weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love the pics you share of your dogs! It makes me wish I lived in a place where we could have one of our own. Oh well. It sounds like you have a fun Independence Day Weekend!
ReplyDeleteI took in a movie with my two sister in laws and saw the LA Galaxy (our soccer team) play along with fireworks on the 4th. On the 5th, I got to see the Angels take down the Astros 11-5 and got my 2nd fireworks show of the weekend. Also, got a gym workout and 2 mile run on the 5th. Sunday was 8.3 (out of a scheduled 9.5) mile run and chores. It was crazy busy.
Sounds like an amazing weekend girl! We spent the 4th at my friend Rhonda's house. We grilled out hamburgers and hot dogs and had a divine cheesecake for dessert. We swam in the pool all day and that night we watched the fireworks downtown. Fun times!
