Fitness Friday–12/19

It’s been a while since I’ve written one of these, but that’s how crazy this month has been. To say I’ve slacked off with my workouts during the holiday season is oh so true…BUT, I made a sincere effort this week to keep up with my training. The Louisiana Half and Rock N Roll NOLA will be here before we know it and that fact makes me really nervous!

Currently training for:
Louisiana Half Marathon
Rock ‘n’ Roll NOLA Half Marathon
Glass Slipper Challenge

Saturday
–  6  mile run with Heather, followed by 2 miles back home with Madalynn
Sunday – Rest Day
Monday –  4 mile run
Tuesday –  3 miles with Jason
Wednesday – Rest Day
Thursday – Quick workout in the morning before work
Friday – 3 miles after today’s Christmas party

The rest of my week looked a little like this:

Christmas party at church…and these two goofballs served as my helpers! :)

Aren’t these adorable? One of my girls saw these on Pinterest and made them! Super cute, huh?

Fitness Friday (5)

Christmas sushi and gift exchange with my running friends last night! :)

It was actually chilly enough for a fire last night! I loved it!

Today, we work 1/2 day, then have our work Christmas party afterwards. Tonight, I’m attending a Big Band style Christmas concert put on by a family friend – can’t wait!

If you’re a runDisney fan, check out this giveaway happening right now! It ends on Sunday night at midnight so don’t miss out! :)

How do you keep active during the holidays? Any tips or tricks for fitting in a workout between parties and events?

  1. I slack off during the holidays b/c it wouldn't be fun to obsess over every little thing so I let myself have some fun and eat junk, but I pick it back up in January!

    1. I agree, but sometimes I tend to slack off too much during the holidays. Thankfully, I got out of my rut and I'm back on track!

  2. I have to keep active or I'll snap! :) Making the kids get out and exercise with me keeps us all sane.... sane-ish. Ok, not totally bonkers!

  3. I choose to work less harder during the holidays because it is the only time of the year that everyone seems to be free. But the weeks following the holidays, I tend to increase the intensity of my workouts in order to make up for the lost time.

  4. Of course no one gets all their workouts in during the month of December! I freely admit that I have been digging into the peppermint chocolate seasonal items far too often too! That has to quit in January when Boston training starts for real!

  5. It's so hard to stay focused on workouts during December! I give myself a break this month and am motivated by the new year to get back at it in January! :)

  6. You must have variation in your workout schedule. Select exercises from various online yoga videos or invest in a program that offers a lot of variety, both in exercises and also in nutrition.
