Long Run & Flower Beds

I’ve been looking forward to Saturday’s long run for weeks. Why this particular Saturday? Well, it was the day when my BRF (Heather) scheduled her returned after a long break from running due to a knee procedure a couple of months ago!

On Saturday morning, I woke up a little earlier than normal – I had six miles on my plate and Heather was going to go for three and see how she felt. My plan was to run the first three on my own, then meet her for the next three.

Although the forecast promised rain, Saturday turned into a beautiful day and it didn’t rain until Saturday night!

Around a mile and a half, I felt the KT Pro tape begin to lift up off my leg. I tried everyone’s tips/tricks but this stuff doesn’t like me or the Southwest Louisiana humidity, or both. (I had no problem with any version of KT Tape in the winter.)

So, my next step is to try Rock Tape – I’ve heard awesome things so we’ll see. Where does everyone get their Rock Tape from? I checked their online store but they don’t have much of a variety available for purchase.

We had a great run and completed 4 miles together! The miles flew by though because we spent the entire time talking! :) How I’ve missed that!

After our run, I stopped by Panera because I somehow managed to snag a cool special on my Panera card – free coffee every day in the month of April! Score!

My next stop was at  Lowe’s for a few plants/flowers to update the flower beds. I LOVE this time of year! Have I mentioned that before….because I do! :)

I’m loving these blooms this year! The Amaryllis to the back corner of the picture is one of my favorites! My mom gave all of these bulbs to me a few years ago when we first began our flower beds – it’s neat to see how much they’ve grown and blossomed (no pun intended). My grandfather and my mom were both blessed with amazing green thumbs. For a while there, I wasn’t sure if I was going to have the same gift but somehow it’s managing to find it’s way out. I love flowers and planting and new growth!

I spent the remainder of the weekend reading, relaxing, and watching baseball. It was a GREAT weekend!!

How was your weekend? Did you have a race/training run to complete? Do you have any flower beds?

  1. Sorry you are having problems with the kt tape! Do you keep it in a cool area of your house? I left a roll in the car in the summer one time and it stopped working, but I typically can wear it in the humidity and not have a problem. I just tdo the one longer strip, because I find the two shorter ones are the ones that cause issues first, and the one longer one works just as well for me usually!

    1. Yes, it stays in my house, never in my car. Didn't think of trying just one strip, I may have to do that next time.

  2. Girl I have a BLACK thumb! Flowers do NOT like me! So I stay away from them lol! Although I think they are so pretty! KT Tape doesn't stick on me either. My chiropractor doesn't even buy it anymore...instead he uses Rock Tape! It sticks super well...I can wear it for a week! I buy it from him or on Amazon.

  3. Oh, I wish I knew you wanted to try rock tape, I could have sent you a roll. I got a case of it free from work. They wanted me to test it out. KT does not work for me so I assume rock tape wouldn't either so I only kept one roll just in case and gave all the other rolls away. Your flowers look lovely. We did yard work yesterday to and I loved every bit of it!

  4. I can get Rock Tape from my chiropractor. I buy whatever color the office has but it's nice that I don't have to wait for it to ship.

    1. Thanks for the advice! I checked Rock Tape's website and it's not for sale anywhere in my area. :( Oh well, I ordered it off Amazon and it already arrived! Yay!

  5. I love this time of the year too! I could spend days & a ton of money in the garden section at Lowe's. I haven't started planting yet but I will soon. I did a 5 mi. run Saturday & 4 miles this morning.

  6. I love Rock Tape, even more the KT. You can get the rolls off of Amazon. Also, something that I like to use and can tell when I don't is the pre-tape. There are a few brands out, but this is the one that I have been using (till the bottle is empty). http://www.amazon.com/Mueller-Tuffner-Pre-tape-Spray-10-Ounce/dp/B001C0I450/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1428938546&sr=8-1&keywords=kinesiology+tape+spray

    1. Thank you for letting me know! I ordered a couple rolls off Amazon! Guess I need to look into an official spray, too...hairspray just wasn't cutting it with the KT Tape!

  7. KT sells a spray that helps the tape stick better in the humidity. It's an extra tape but it helps really well in the summer.
