Becoming Bold

This year I set a major goal for myself  -  to become more bold….step out of my comfort zone and do things I wouldn’t normally do (within reason, of course)!

So, when my friend Erin messaged me at the end of April and asked if I would go on their Morning Show to talk about Relay for Life, I (internally) freaked. Radio? That’s like……LIVE….gulp.

I messaged Erin back with some nonsense and then I waited….and she left me alone to think. (She knows me too well.)

Send me a script to do a public speaking event and I’ll be there all day, every day. Ask me to do something live where you never know what will happen….eeek. That’ freaks me out.

After a LOT of pep-talks (to myself, of course), I was reminded of my goal this year – to become BOLD. Being bold requires doing things you wouldn’t normally do – stepping out of your comfort zone – being “stretched” if you will.

Besides, speaking about Relay on the Morning Show is like free advertising….we need people to come out to support the event and I’m on the committee – I told myself that I was pretty much a loser committee member if I didn’t agree to speak.

So, I agreed. I agreed to go on the radio to promote Relay for Life.

Relay for Life

I was scared and nervous as all get out and had a million notes scribbled on a few sheets of paper, but I still did it and I couldn’t have been more proud of myself. (I think we are allowed to be proud of ourselves every once in a while, especially when overcoming a huge obstacle.)

Erin and Kris were awesome to work with and I so appreciate the opportunity they gave to me!! <3

Relay for Life (2)

What did the rest of the day entail? Well, I spent several hours at work, then I joined up with these amazing (and sometimes crazy) folks to set up for our event.

Our area’s Relay for Life is being held tonight!! I am so excited to see what this day has in store!

Yes, I know I ramble a lot and yes, I know that “fullest” is not a real word. However, I am so happy that I stepped out of my comfort zone and agreed to do this! It’s just one more step in my journey of becoming bold and fearless! (Well, maybe not completely fearless but yea, you know what I mean!) :)

How do you feel about stepping out of your comfort zone?
