Disney Princess Half Trip Recap–Disney Dream

This past February, Jason and I travelled to WDW to partake in Disney’s Princess Half Marathon weekend. As an added bonus, we booked a cruise on the Disney Dream which set sail the day after the Half Marathon. As part of the cruise, we participated in a special Castaway Cay 5K and were awarded the “Castaway Challenge” Medals. I’ve recapped all of the races (see the runDisney tab) and all of our days on land (see links below). Now it’s time for the cruise portion of our trip!

We spent Monday morning wandering around Coronado Springs Resort. It’s such a beautiful and peaceful resort, I couldn’t help but take it all in!

Around noon, the Disney Cruise Line bus was at our resort to bring us to the port! (This is something you have to book and pay for in advance, so look into this option if you’re planning a cruise after a resort stay or vise versa.)



Before long (about an hour), we could see the Disney Dream!



I was in shock over the massive size of this ship! I’ve been on the Magic/Wonder before but never the Dream – it was amazing!



As we got in the Castaway Club line for check-in (there was quite a lot of people, too), a nice CM pulled over to the concierge check-in because there wasn’t a line over there!

The CM who checked us in was super helpful and gave us a few tips (Anna and Elsa were onboard this cruise, but you had to get tickets to see them ahead of time)! This was also the same for Jake and the Neverland Pirates and a few others I can’t remember off the top of my head… Tickets could be obtained at the Guest Services/Cruise Excursion desk and we were encouraged to get in line for tickets as soon as we got on the ship. That’s how crazy fast those tickets were going!

Our room was on the very back of the ship and came complete with a Navigator’s Verandah and a Castaway Club gift (a really nice beach bag)!

This room was considered a Navigator’s Verandah because the verandah was much smaller in size. However, I really liked the bench!

After a delicious buffet lunch, we walked up to deck 12 for the Sailing Away party!



The party was so different on the Dream vs the Magic/Wonder and I loved it!



The ship’s horn on the Dream was really cool, too…..A Dream Is A Wish and Yo Ho Yo Ho!

Before long, it was time to get ready for the night time show. Our dinner rotation happened to be at 8 p.m. which was ok, but I’d rather earlier dinner seating. No big deal, though!



We were SO excited to see The Golden Mickeys again! We’d only seen it once (on 2nd anniversary cruise on board the Disney Magic).



It’s one of our favorites!

Dinner our first evening was held in the Enchanted Garden.



This restaurant is beautiful and the food was delicious!



This is also where we met our cruise table mates for the first time!



That evening, we hung out in the adult area before calling it a night. We had a great first day and couldn’t wait to see what the rest of the week had in store!
