Pregnancy Update: 14 Weeks

Good morning and happy Thursday to you all! This has been a fun week because I feel like baby has grown and I didn't even realize how much until I put maternity clothing on yesterday! It's also been a not-so-fun week due to sinus headaches but more on that later...

Here's this week's bump picture!

How many weeks are you now?
14 weeks + 6 days

Baby's size?

Lemon - About 1.5 ounces (estimate from the What to Expect app)

Symptoms:
Headaches...oh the headaches. On Sunday, I felt like I was coming down with something (a cold/sinus infection...something along those lines), so I rested the remainder of the afternoon (after church). Monday and Tuesday's headaches were no joke but I was able to sleep it off on Tuesday after work and it hasn't yet returned. Bonus...I never "got sick"...pretty sure it was just sinus yuckiness. The weather is ridiculous right now and I can literally feel the sinus pressure building at times. I'm a huge chicken and didn't want to take anything but I finally relented to a tylenol on Tuesday afternoon. It helped tremendously.

Weight Gain:
2 pounds! Woohoo!

Body & Changes:
Definitely in the tummy area! :)

Exercise:

Same - run/walking three days per week with my PT routine 2 days per week. I missed last weekend's long run due to an out of town conference but have 6 miles planned for this Saturday!

Clothes:
Still in my regular clothing for the most part but my "big" jeans (one size up from my norm) won't fit for much longer. Thankfully, I wear my clothing a little on the looser side anyway, so everything pretty much still fits.

Cravings?
Nothing crazy this week to report!

Aversions?
Still fish.....

Any Movement?
None yet!

Sleep:
So far so good - waking up about once per night to potty!

Purchases:
A fetal doppler and a Snoogle! I also made a trip to Destination Maternity in the  mall to find shorts and a swim suit cover-up for our upcoming baby moon.

What I miss:
Feeling 100% normal.

What I’m looking forward to:
My first baby half-marathon next weekend and a girl's weekend trip away!

Best Moment of the Week:
Hearing baby's heartbeat via doppler! Loving it!

Look how funny - so I wear scrubs pretty much every day of the week. I also don't feel like my body has changed much over the past 14 weeks because I see myself in scrubs all day every day.

However, I put a few maternity pieces on yesterday and....hello...

....there really IS a baby bump under there!

Due to the suggestion of a few friends of mine, I decided to purchase a fetal doppler. I did a bit of research on different brands, etc and ended up finding this one on ebay.

I love having this because I can let my brain get away with me at times. Hearing the baby's heart beat definitely helps calm my nerves when I need it the most!

The only downfall I've found is in the beats per minute count (bpm) - I don't pay attention to the screen's readings because it will read "75" sometimes when the count is clearly much higher than that....so I usually just count the heart rate on my own. It's staying around high 150's to low 160's!

That's all for this week! Please know, I'm not encouraging the purchase of a fetal doppler, I just enjoy having one for my own personal use.

How far along were you before you started wearing maternity clothing?

  2. Yay for a bump! I remember around 16 weeks feeling huge and people telling me "oh just wait" which i didn't really get, now looking back I was still so small then and got so. much. bigger. But hooray for 2 pounds gained that's good! I never got a doppler, I can get obsessive and knew I would go nuts with something like that with my personality!

  3. You look so adorable in your maternity clothes! Its amazing how you don't notice many changes in looser regular clothes, and then boom, you put maternity ones on and the bump is just there. I went through the exact same thing!
