Pregnancy Update: 27 Weeks

How many weeks are you now?
27 Weeks + 6 Days (almost in the third trimester! WOW!)

Baby's size?

Cucumber! :)

Symptoms:
I'm still dealing with this respiratory junk...which happened to move to my lungs over the weekend. Yay. On Monday, I called my OB's office and she was out of town. Instead, I took my "approved medications list" from her to our local Urgent Care (thankfully, I knew the MD running it that day). He gave me an antibiotic and told me a few natural tips/tricks I could try - one of them being a cough syrup made of honey and onion. Sounds interesting? Yeah...it is. I have two days left on the antibiotic and I'm hoping that does the trick. I'm not so much on taking medications while pregnant and I look up EVERYTHING before I take it. It's strange to say, but I feel like I'm back in the 1900's where the medication options were limited and home remedies were the thing!

Overall, my bump still gets tight when I move around but not near as often. I wondered if hacking up a lung coughing like I'm dying would be detrimental but it hasn't changed anything that I've seen!

Exercise:
Well...I've still been doing a lot of sitting (per MD's orders...see last week's pregnancy update). I even managed to box up all of the Christmas stuff (which includes two trees and at least 15 plastic tubs of Christmas décor/ornaments) from a mostly sitting position. This took place over the weekend. Now I'm just waiting on the bag to be delivered for my Christmas tree (the box is in shambles this year). My house looks mostly back to normal minus the giant empty tree in the living room! :)

Cravings?
Still the same...Ranch dressing and crunchy things! I also had a peppermint shake from Chick Fil A for the last time this season!

Aversions?
Still fish!! Can't handle the smell!

Sleep:
I wake up every time I need to turn over which occurs a few times per night but I always fall right back asleep. Madalynn loves her momma's snoogle, too!

Purchases:
Baby Seal officially has a bed on order! It should arrive sometime next week! YAY! This is the set we went with: (minus the changing table insert on the dresser)

What I miss:
Feeling normal.

What I’m looking forward to:
We start baby classes next week and they continue through February. I also booked a 3D/4D ultrasound with a local facility and I'm excited to see Baby Seal again!
My next step is deciding on registry items and booking a newborn photographer! Can't wait!

Best Moment of the Week:
Getting so much stuff accomplished - I worried myself last week but feel so much better now!

As a side note, I LOVE when businesses offer up close parking for pregnant mommas! (Walgreens  does this as well!)

That's all for this week! Next week we will have entered the third trimester and are counting down the days until Baby Seal's arrival!

  1. First, I'd love Chick Fil A around here. We must move to the south. Second, packing up the Christmas stuff is a lot of work, I don't have quite that many tubs, but my legs have been killing me, so sitting has been no walk in the park. I can empathize with the needing to sit and rest. It stink!! Congratulations on almost Third trimester!!!!!!

  2. I think home remedies are making a comeback anyway. Honey and onion does not sound like a good combo, but then some cough medicine has to be choked down too.

  4. That peppermint shake!! I had my first one this year. You should try the peppermint Bluebell. SO GOOD!!! I still have 2 Christmas trees up. They're empty. It's just been yucky cold weather & we haven't wanted to go outside to put everything in the attic.

  6. I remember being so sick last Spring, and having to use a number of home remedies in order to combat my horrible cold. I hope the remedies are working and that you're starting to feel better! Being sick while pregnant is the worst!
