I last left off with our 10th Anniversary cruise on our first day on the beautiful Disney Fantasy! Our next day on board was an at sea day where we'd planned on our first ever Remy experience! We were able to make these reservations with our friends and this was their first Remy experience, too!

When we arrived at Remy for check-in, the hostess had us wait in Meridian prior to being seated inside. We took this opportunity to take a few pictures and chat with our friends.
A crystallized Remy was there to greet us as we entered the restaurant!
We were taken as a group of about 8 into the restaurant alcove where the chef shared the menu with us. We also had our appetizer here which was delicious!
Let me preface all of this by saying that we did not fully do our research on this experience prior to booking it as I should have. We've done Palo brunch twice in the past and LOVED it, so I just assumed we would feel the same about Remy brunch. This was also our anniversary trip and we wanted to splurge on a nice experience because...well...why not?
Also, I'm one who is willing to try anything, I'm not a picky eater. So, the opportunity to try something new to us with foods I don't eat on a daily basis...I was sold!
We had a wonderful server who explained everything about the menu to us again. She also started us off with the bread service first.
I loved the little touches of Remy throughout the restaurant!
Ok, now I'm no food connoisseur so I don't know the official terms for each of these dishes, but I'll do my best to describe them.
The first dish placed before us was the pea soup. Basically this was described as pea soup with an "ice cream" center and puffed rice sprinkled on top.
My honest thought? This was just ok. The pea soup portion wasn't my favorite. When mixed with the "ice cream", it took on an entirely different taste.
Our next dish was sea bass which was delicious! My husband isn't a fan of fish, so he was served a mushroom risotto instead.
The third dish was hands down my favorite.
This dish was a tortellini with an amazing sauce poured on top. We were encouraged by our server to dip our extra bread into the sauce to truly savor the flavor. All of it was delicious!
Funny story - when asked about the type of water we wanted to drink, our friend misunderstood the server say "house water". Well, we didn't want Evian water but that's what we ended up with and were charged for 2 1/2 bottles of water. Whoops. Interesting fact: these bottles were specially designed for DCL and Remy!
Another tasty dish was chicken with crab and asparagus.
The views inside of Remy were amazing! The restaurant itself is also really pretty!
Why hello there, Remy!
Last but not least, it was time for my favorite course - dessert and coffee!
The chocolate dessert was really tasty!
However, I especially loved the canale rum cakes. Delicious!
Our group!
After leaving Remy, we noticed this painting along the stairwell. I was told a secret that morning during the Art of the Theme Ship Tour about this painting - do you see Remy & Emile sitting at the far left of the painting? Well, the ideas behind Remy the restaurant came from Walt Disney's ideas for Club 33 and the imagineers wanted to honor that thought, so the shadow that Remy & Emile cast on the rooftop to the far right is one of Walt and Mickey. Everyone together now....awwwwww.... :)
After brunch, I'm pretty sure we took a nap! Later that afternoon, we played another round of trivia. This one was called "Ultimate Disney Trivia" for Adults only.
Guess what?? WE WON AGAIN! Omg. I couldn't believe it! I've been playing trivia on every single cruise and have never won...now here we won the first two rounds we played!
That evening was formal night!
Dinner was in Royal Court and was delicious! (as if we needed more food!)
Brie....
Duck....
Souffle...
We also took an official picture together that I ended up purchasing.
We also watched the show that evening which happened to be Aladdin again! We liked it so much, we watched it both nights it was offered!
I also spent a little time reading on our balcony before calling it a night.
Overall thoughts on the day? Well, while I liked some parts of Remy brunch, I didn't enjoy them all. I didn't leave with the overall feeling of "OMG that was so amazing" like I do with Palo. Will I do it again? Probably not. Was I glad I did it at least once? YES! It was a neat experience overall but as I mentioned, I didn't enjoy it as I thought I would. If you're a die hard Remy fan, I'm sorry...I guess it's just not for everyone!
And that's the end of our first at sea day! Stay tuned for Day 4 - Cozumel and our trip to the Mayan ruins!
Sounds like a great day on the ship!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It really was!
DeleteI love Remy and love how they worked him into the decorations. The food however, always dictates if I like something. I'm a very picky eater so it has to be special.
ReplyDeleteI’ll try almost anything, so I’m glad we did it at least once! I love all the Remy decor too!
DeleteI love your flower dress! I don't think I'd like the pea soup, as I don't like peas, but everything else looks really good. I'm with you, you have to try everything once cause you never know.
ReplyDeleteYes, exactly! I’m not a fan of peas either, but I tried it just to!
DeleteI can understand not doing the research because you assume everything is going to be just as fabulous as other Disney things you've experienced. Do you think you would have still booked it if you had known the menu ahead of time?
ReplyDeleteI love the formal picture with you two with Mickey!
I honestly probably would not have booked it knowing the menu - so I’m kinda glad I didn’t google it ahead of time now! Haha!
DeleteThank you so much! Yes, we probably won’t be back for brunch but it was nice to try at least once! :)
