With St. Patrick's Day week upon us, today's Tuesdays on the Run topic is all about luck!
As a runner, I feel incredibly lucky each and every time I go for a run and I don't take one moment for granted.
Putting things is perspective is something I always tend to do, especially with bad days or hard moments. When I was injured or having a set-back and unable to run, I realized just how much I took so many running related things for granted.
So, I feel incredibly lucky to be able to run (mostly) pain free...
- lucky to feel the wind in my hair and the breeze on my face as I run...
- lucky to feel my lungs expanding and my muscles burning with each step...
- lucky for the network of runners I've met along this journey...
- lucky for an amazing family and support system....
- lucky to have a safe place to run and train...
- lucky that man son seems to enjoy going out for a run just as much as I do....
- and last but not least, I'm just lucky to have the ability to run
Running makes me feel like the luckiest girl in the world. It calms me down after a bad day, it's granted me the opportunity to travel more, it always gives me the energy boost I need, and I love how it's familiar to me - like an old friend, waiting for me to come say hello and that makes me feel...well, lucky!
Ok, ok...I had to! Enough Napoleon Dynamite already...
So yes, I would say I feel pretty lucky to be a runner and I'm grateful for each and every opportunity with each and every new step!
May the luck of the runner be with you! :)
It's the Tuesdays on the Run link up with Erika, Marcia and Patty!
Running truly is an elixir, isn't it? I feel the same way!
ReplyDeleteYes, it really is! :)
DeleteThose are a lot of reasons to feel lucky! I am lucky to be able to run and to have an amazing running tribe in Chicago. Great topic!
ReplyDeleteHaving a great group of running buddies makes a world of difference! Love it!
DeleteSometimes I do take the ability to run for granted but I need not to. It is a gift and we should all feel lucky that we are healthy and able to do so.
ReplyDeleteThat's so true! :)
DeleteRunning's brought me so much, and it's a great way to calm down after a tough day. No wonder therapists recommend physical activity.
ReplyDeleteRight?! :D
DeleteYou have spoken so much truth here! AS you may know, I sat out almost all of last summer (recovering from emergency surgery), and I would have gladly traded places with all the people complaining about running in the "dreadful heat/humidity" ;-) Like you, I don't take any run (good or bad) for granted...I feel so incredibly blessed to have the ability to run ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how a situation like that can put it in perspective for us. I felt the same way when I had my IT Band injury and again when I couldn't run due to pregnancy issues.
